"are they on the way to us?" gray questions, breaking the silence in the car.

i pick my head off seph's shoulder, sitting up.

"let me see," i tell him.

🕊️ | hey, you guys okay? heading towards us yet?

"i'm just saying we need to be a united front," matt speaks up.

"no one cares about that right now matt," gray spits at him.

🌹 | yeah. we're just about ready. where are you guys?

"they need to know where we are. where are we?"

"arkansas, almost to texas."

🕊️ | we're almost through arkansas into texas.

🌹 | well shit. okay. we'll meet in texas. alex and i will wait for you.

"they're going to meet us in texas," i inform.

"okay."

i look at seph.

she's knocked out.

she looks so cute.

i love her so much.

i was so afraid of losing her to max20 but i don't think i have to worry. i think she's one of us maybe.

i caress her cheek and she stirs slightly.

i could love her forever.

"we're almost to mexico," i say to the boys.

"still have a few more hours in the car," gray says, "but yeah. we're doing great time."

"we'll find apple and we'll take ann down," i nod, leaning on the middle seat in front of me.

"we will. we'll be prepared this time."

"you guys think dominic will come back right? when i was young, i had a great grandpa with alzheimer's. he'll get his memory back? it won't be like alzheimer's?" i ask.

"i don't think so. dom just needs a good slap to the face and his memories will come back," matt says.

"whatever apple does, we need. so once we find her, we'll be able to get dominic back. i'm sure of it," gray tells me.

"superpowers," i sigh, "i used to dream about being able to turn invisible back in school but who knew i actually could!" i chuckle. "i mean, of course you guys don't understand, and maybe one day you will, but, it's magnificent. it's like adrenaline times a thousand. or maybe if you were fortunate enough to be struck by lightening and live to tell the tell. it's electrifying!"

"if we're connected, then we should get powers eventually? or we're just stuck at fortunate humans who survived max20."

"that's what i wonder gray. are you guys more powerful? do we have the same powers? are we specialized in anything? because i feel like i can conquer the world when i use my powers."
