"guess who's finally here," i say as apple appears.

she opens her eyes and i can immediately tell something is wrong.

"raya-"

"what happened?!" i question, running up to her. "what's wrong?! what did they do to you?"

"nothing. i went out tonight with borkov and we went to the forest level. we were playing hide and seek and i was backing up and i fell off and into water," she cries.

i engulf her in my arms and squeeze tightly around her. no matter how much i want it to feel real, it doesn't. i want to comfort her in our own reality.

"are you okay?!" i ask her.

"no," she whines.

alex hurries over to us and bends down next to us.

"you will never go through that again. trust me apollonia," he says, laying a hand on her back.

she pulls away from me and looks where the voice came from.

"noonie!" she yells, jumping from me to her brother, wrapping her arms around his neck.

"i've missed you so much," he tells her, face buried in her wild hair.

she smiles, pulling away from the hug to look at him.

then it drops, and her tiny fist are flying.

"why did it take you so long to come and see me?!" she shouts, hitting alex.

"i'm sorry," he apologizes, "i'm here. and we're coming for you," he tells her, letting her hit him. "we are coming for you baby sister."

her fists slowly stop flying and she frowns.

"do you guys have a plan to come and get me?" she questions, realizing june and v standing behind alex and i.

"we're about to commit the most big brained rescue mission to ever exist," v tells her.

"you are going to take us to you," june tells apple.

"but... how? i don't know where i am," she pouts. "i still haven't gotten the location."

"the beauty of this plan is that i don't think we need it. june and i just need to get to where you are. leave everything else after, up to us two," i explain, smirking.

🌹 | you and i will search that building top and bottom for the location.

"will i be able to do it?" apple asks, worry on her face. "i don't want to get you in trouble."

"hey," i say, grabbing her face in my hands softly, "you can do anything apollonia," i smile at her. she smiles back at me, eyes filling with adoration. "you're smart. the most smart and brave girl i know."

"but we don't have to do this now," alex adds in. "we'll move when you're ready."

"well where are you and veda going?" she asks.

"we're going to save dominic," veda tells her.

"ann is hurting him," apple tells me, looking at me. "and you're going to be mad, but she took blood from me."

my smile drops from my face, and i squint my eyes in confusion at her words.

"fuck ray getting mad! i'm mad! are you fucking kidding me?!" alex yells.

"she what?!" i question, grabbing apple's arm and inspecting it.

"alex! the hole in your arms," june says.

"they've healed already. but yeah. i remember them too," he says, looking at his own arm.

"wait what? explain," i say, looking between june and him.

"when we went to the hospital for you and gray, i had to insert the IV's. alex had needle holes already in his arm," june tells me.

"so... she has both of your blood?" i question.

"most likely dominic's as well," v says. "she probably has all three."

"what would she want with all of their blood?" june asks.

"not even that, i'm sure she wants our blood too," v says.

"powers," i say, and everyone looks at me. "she wants powers. she wants to make sure that we never beat her."

"fuck me. when i thought shit couldn't get any worse," alex curses, throwing his hands up in the air.

"it's okay. let's just worry about getting our sweet little girl here home," i tell them, tickling apple's chin. "we wait to tell the others about this blood thing until we're all in a collective. we need to focus on getting dominic his memories back too," i nod.

"i like this plan," apple agrees. "i'm ready to get out of there."

"alright! the princess has spoken!" alex grins, tickling her. "we're coming for you. no more near death experiences."

"not on our watch," i tell her.

"v?" alex says, standing.

"alright. let's go. let's bring the kid home," v grins, walking over to alex.

"where do we start?" he asks her.

she grabs both of his hands and takes a deep breath.

"we start at places you know he'd run to when he needed to get away."

alex pauses.

"okay, i have a few. let's go find him."

the two disappear.

"alright. no be safe? or i love you? just going to go straight into it? love that!" i say, and look at june and apple. "then there were three," i smile.

apple chuckles.

june joins us on the ground.

apple goes and hugs her.

"you okay?" june asks her.

"yeah. i feel better being with you guys," she tells her and sits down.

"you ready to learn how to do this?" i ask her.

"more than ever," she grins.

"well let's begin!"
