5:12pm

i rush to dominic's room, stopping in the doorway. he's laying in his bed, on his stomach, head facing away from me.

"you sleep?" i call in.

he turns to me, not taking his head off the pillow.

"no. bored."

"good. i want to show you something," i smile. "c'mon! my mother is with borkov and he takes all of her time. the only person who can honestly."

"you won't get in trouble?" he asks, getting out of bed and walking toward me.

"not if you don't come on!" i giggle, holding my hand out.

he takes it and i run, dragging him to the elevator.

"where are we going?" he chuckles.

"outside," i tell him, stepping in after the doors open. "this place was built in case of earth being inhabitable. so," i say, pressing floor nine, "we can go outside."

i step back and realize we're still holding hands.

mother is paranoid. she's cracked him. me getting involved won't do anything.

i'm better than soraya anyway.

"so not outside," he says, letting my hand go.

"it's better than outside. trust me."

we ride down and i grin.

i couldn't do this with matt.

he wouldn't do what i say.

maybe mother is better than me in that sense, but i'm sure i could demolish her in combat and tactical training.

we reach level nine and step off the elevator into an entire new world of beautiful trees that stand tall above us.

we stand on a platform which stairs lead to the ground of this place. it's high enough off the ground that if you tried to jump from the platform, you'd break some kind of bone.

"holy shit," dominic whispers, looking around.

"yeah! i don't even think i've explored this entire room fully, but holy shit is right," i tell him.

"this is beautiful anna."

"come on! you need to see it up close!"

i grab his hand and lead him to the stairs that are growing moss on them. we descend down and make it to the ground.

the grass is ankle high, the smell resembling a fresh standing forest from out in the real world.

"when did you find time to find this level?" he asks me.

"i'm a sneaky fox dominic. you'll understand that."

"why do you feel you have to be so sneaky?"

"have you not met my mother? i think it's self explanatory," i tell him.

"no, well yeah, but your type of sneaky behavior predates ann. this had to be childhood. what really made you sneaky?"

i tiptoe toward the dining area, knowing the pantry is fully stocked. which means no one would know a thing went missing.

i make myself light as a feather, as theirs not a single sound being produced in the building because everyone is sleeping.

i arrive at the pantry; my mouth watering at the vast selection.

i look behind me for anyone, finding the coast is clear, and back at the snacks meant for everyone.
