"okay, go ahead and contact them. i thought they'd check in by now," gray speaks up from the front seat.

i stroke seph's hair while she's sleeping with her head in my lap.

🕊️ | hey ray? alex? you guys okay?

🌹 | yeah, we're okay. lost track of time. we're still searching.

"ray says they're still searching. lost track of time," i relay the message.

"ask them if they're on the way back," matt says.

"they just said they're still searching," i repeat to him.

"right," he says, "well tell them to make sure when they find a place, raid the whole shit."

🕊️ | are you guys okay actually? why haven't you checked in?

🐲 | ray's having a moment. she needs a bit of time to collect herself. we'll be on the way soon. we're alright.

🕊️ | oh, okay. i hope she's okay. i'll tell gray that you guys will be on the way soon.

"they'll be on the way soon," i state.

"what are they doing? why is it taking so long?" gray questions.

"like you said, finding a place that houses that would take a bit if you don't know the area," i say, not really wanting to tell ray's business to everyone.

"but-"

"she did get stabbed too," i say, "maybe she needs this time away."

"she seems so cheerful now. that is not the soraya i met," matt says.

"she got stabbed by someone she trusted. let her deal with that reality first. we still don't really know her, so we can't just expect her to be someone she's not."

"i know. i'm still not okay with them zooming off to go find weed," gray says.

"it helps bro. if you're fortunate enough to be able to withstand the effects of weed, you'll find it really soothing," matt says.

"seph says that," i smile, looking down at her peaceful state. "that it helps with her anxiety a lot."

"see. soraya needs that," matt says.

"look at all we been through, and before us it was ray and dom with apple together. we don't even know all of what they went through hiding from the government, and the world thinking that they could be domestic terrorists," i tell them.

"you're right. she told me she felt dominic leave her body. she knew that's when ann got him. those two are connected in some way that they don't even understand," gray says.
