i open my eyes, alex staring back at me.

"how is she?!" he asks me.

"she's fine; wants to come home; wants her brother to visit her," i tell him.

"is she mad at me?"

"yeah, but she's seven, she'll get over it. she was mad at me too. we'll go together."

"and dominic?"

i shake my head.

"still all white silence. i don't know what she's doing to him. you were all transported to his memories. but me? that white void was crumbling down before i left."

"you still feel him?" he asks me, frowning.

"yes, but she's destroying his mind. who knows how many times she's messed with it," i say, shaking my head.

"we need to find apple, and quick."

"she's working on it too. she's getting them to trust her. but where would the government put their first laboratory?" i question.

"the second one is here in the states," alex says.

"you think the first is out of state?"

"or it could be in another US state," he says, sighing.

"i need apple to bring me to her. i'll need v's help. ann will try to destroy her mind. i overheard her talking, saying she might need to be more aggressive with apple. that's why i'll kill her. she doesn't care about human life. the first chance i get, i'm taking it."

"talking about ann?" v asks, walking into my room.

"did you hear me say your name?" i chuckle.

"no. i had a feeling i was needed. everything good? apple is okay?"

i nod.

"she's good. any idea on how to teach her to bring me to her location?"

"she'll have to unconsciously draw you there. through astral, you'll be there. daydreaming in simplest terms. or we teach her dreamwalking."

"i don't know if i want to teach her about dreamwalking just yet. will you come with me when we visit her and teach her the daydream version?" i ask her.

"yeah, of course. man, alex, your little sister is an ass kicker. she's tough," veda compliments. "she deserves to be with us. i know that."

"she will be," alex nods. "soon."

"we do have to move quick. so tonight's bedtime visit, alex, v, you guys come with me. june too, just to complete our set. we need to move in quick before ann starts to act crazy," i announce to them.

"i'm down," v smiles. "for our little badass!" she cheers.

"for our little badass," i grin, joining in.

"she'll be home soon," alex nods.

she will.

alex and i stand up.

"i don't know if dominic will be the same... i saw, nothing. and you guys- i keep thinking about this. you all saw your mom's, lucille, and nancy, places he was at," i explain.

"were we not seeing his memories?" alex asks.

"not quite," v speaks up. "we were sent to his subconscious. if it were memory, we would see it play out, detail for detail. if we couldn't see his memories, then their gone. he may have an idea or a feeling that he's been at these places or that they look familiar, but, he will never remember because everyone that was there is erased from his brain. but, if we were sent there to those places, and ray to his actual subconscious breaking down slowly, then, he must be... in a sort of war with himself. he wants his memories, but ann is trying to take them away. he's fighting the effects of what she's done or is doing to him," she explains.

"how can we help him?" alex asks her.

"we'll have to find him in his memories. this means we'll have to dreamwalk into his mind. and you're his brother, which means you hold connection just like ray. you share a lot of your memories with each other. you'd know where to look."

"wait," i interrupt. "that kind of means we're splitting up."

"it might be for the best. if you're getting apple to get you to where she is, then alex can be going through dominic's mind at the same time. a win-win situation."

"alex won't be able to do it by himself, and i don't know how to help apple without you."

"i'll go with alex, it's a riskier situation then apple. you can do it without me. we both know you're stronger than me in powers. you got this."

i look at alex and back to v.

no fucking way.

i can't.

"you can," alex tells me as if he's read my mind. "you can do this. don't second guess. you're going to get to apple. and you'll find our location."

"i've taught you everything you need to know. listen to your body. listen to yourself," v says.

i slowly nod, processing their words.

okay.

"okay," i say. "but, we have to do this after she sees alex."

"perfect plan. wouldn't have it any other way," v smiles.

i look at alex.

"you'll get your brother back. you got this?" i ask him.

"i think it's about time he listens to his little brother," he smiles. "i'll be okay."

"i do not want this to backfire," i say, looking between the both of them. "we've been through too fucking much to let this shit continue to happen."

"this is going to be over ray. i know it," alex says.

i give him a small smile.

"ann can't win again soraya. a villain always falls," v grins. "we're so many steps ahead. apple is intelligent. she'll play ann so well. she won't see it coming. we already have dominic. we just need to find him."

i nod.

"okay. lets go and fill everyone in on the plan, which always seems to change," i chuckle.

"starting to think it's just our strategy at this point," alex shrugs, as we start walking out the room.

"hey, never let them know your next move," v agrees, following behind alex.

i laugh at the both of them.
