"Who in the world could imagine the day that Caspian Montgomery would be an expecting father?" Lincoln chuckled. " Certainly not me."

Caspian ignored his best friend's jest. He has spent so many years listening to it and He has learned to tune it out, like he did for most things he said.

"I reckoned something was wrong when you suddenly got married. I mean... Katherine is not the type of girl one would imagine you with."

"Why?" Now Caspian was now half interested in Lincoln's statement. Even though he knew that he was right, he wanted to know from another point of view.

"Katherine is different from the other girls you've been with. She's a Lane, so she's obviously from a wealthy family but She's kind and simple. She has this innocent aura around her. " Lincoln looked at Caspian and used his hand to motion like he was trying to explain something.

"I can't even imagine you paying her any attention, let alone marrying her or impregnating her. To simply put it, she's different from the other women you've been with" Lincoln stood up from the sofa he sat and walked to the huge table that Caspian was sitting behind.

"I like her. She's the only woman you've been with that I approve of." He took the small golden figurine that sat on Caspian's desk.

"I've never needed your approval." Caspian glared at lincoln.

"Of course you did. You don't just know that." He toyed with the figurine.

"Drop that and leave."

"I just got here." Lincoln pouted. Something that has worked so rarely on Caspian it could be labeled as fruitless.

"Three hours ago. Get out." Caspian let out a small growl that would send ordinary people running for the hills.

Lincoln was not anyone.

"You can't kick me out of your office." Lincoln challenged. He knew better but anything to annoy his best friend was worth the best effort.
Lincoln from long years with him knew more of Caspian probably than he knew himself, his tone and act around a man feared by even members of his family was the evidence of the bond shared between them.

Caspian took out his phone and silently tapped the screen.

"Don't you have a multi billon dollar company to run?" Caspian asked not looking up from his phone.

"I do and I am."

" I remember that your father made you a proposal few months ago..." Caspian started with a mischievous thought in his mind and a sly grin on his lips, ready to do anything to let lincoln leave him alone – something that Caspian knew wouldn't happen – and not come back for awhile"... since you have so much time on your hands why don't I hasten the deadline for —"

"—Stop!" Lincoln stretched his hand in front of him to make a hold gesture, already very aware of Caspian's plan to highten his current predicament.

"Fine fine" he sighed. " I'll leave. I'm leaving. I was going  to Vincenzo anyway." He snickered.

Caspian couldn't care less if he was going to visit Vincenzo, but as long as he got rid of him.

Lincoln grumbled as he walked out of  Caspian's office. He wasn't bothered. He was ready to go to his other friend. Lincoln is long used to his type of attitude, the attitude he knew he would meet with Vincenzo.

"Tonight." Lincoln said before he walked out the door, reminding Caspian of something he couldn't forgot - not that he ever forgets anything, and that's what makes him dreadful.

KATHERINE'S POV

"He promised to reach me in a few days but I couldn't trust a word out of his filthy mouth." Carolina snickered, remembering the man's promise.
