"You don't have to come with me. I could go on my own." I said as I stared out the window looking at the things that pass us by or rather we pass them by.

"I do."

Today my mum invited I and my husband to dinner. I know, it's weird. Since I got married, mom has been very interested in my life. She called me frequently, showed up twice in my Cafe which freaked me out and asked how my life was going.

It was like she was a different person and I knew it was because of who my husband is.
I know mom cares for me, in her own way. I and mom had never had anything similar to talk about. We were as different as night and day. Viviana on the other hand was different. She and mom were similar.

And my relationship with mom just strained more after she fully supported Viviana when she and Alan got together.  I could remember her telling me that I wasn't good enough for Alan. Maybe to her she meant I wasn't good enough or she just said it so that we'll pretend all his fine after the older sister cheated with her younger sister's boyfriend and she and Viviana would be free to Lavish in Alan's money.

I choose to believe that my mom loved me in a different way and cares for me the same and that because we are different that doesn't mean she wasn't my mother. That although she love power and wealth, she also love me...in her own way.

Or rather that is what I chose to tell myself.

The car arrived at home. I hated coming to this dinners but I hated it more when I had to watch my sister and ex-boyfriend act like the couple of the year in front of me. I stopped coming or rather mom stopped inviting me, either way it was a plus and now here I was again.

But it's different this time.

I'm ... Married.

The door was pulled open for me. I looked at my own house and sighed. I had gotten out the moment I had the chance.

I could feel a big warm hand engulfing mine. I turned to see Caspian holding my hand.

He's doing it again. This was the same thing he did when we went to his parent's house.
The man confuses me but right now I needed support. Because it was indeed different this time, I am married to one of the most powerful man in the world.

As I opened the door my face broke into a comforting and relived smile as I faced my dad.

"Hey Tiny." He came towards me amd I met him halfway wrapping my arms around him.

He was the only reason I ever come home. He is the only person who really gets me apart from Carolina.

"Hey dad." My nose got a whiff of his musky scent.

I could feel him press a kiss on the tip of my head as I pulled away.

"My Katherine!" A cheerful voice came as I was pulled into a hug.

I froze as my mom wrapped her arms around me. Hugging me. My mother was hugging me. Melinda Lane was hugging me. The woman hasn't hugged me in years.
I tried to control my breathing as her expensive perfume felt like it was suffocating me.

"Hey mom." I chucked awkwardly as I pulled away, pulling my hands away from hers.

"It's nice to see you again, Mr Montgomery... Oh- sorry I mean Caspian. We are family after all." My mother said giving her shrill laugh afterwards.

"Mr Lane." Caspian greeted my dad in a monotone as he pulled back to him, his hands now wrapped around my waist.

My eyes caught sight of two people who if it was a year ago I'll rather not see. Alan and Viviana.
