THIRD PERSON'S POV.
They waited in front of the operation theatre for what seemed like forever. Caspian stood like a statue looking at the door, unmoving. Lincoln wanted to comfort him but instead he stayed put.
Carolina wanted to talk to him, but what could she say to a man who just had to choose between his own family?
Arthur had wanted to say something desperately but he and Caspian were always distant with each other and Arthur couldn't bare to look at his son after all he was hiding the woman who did this to his family but Natalie was also his daughter.
How can a father make a decision on who to protect? His daughter? His son? His daughter-in-law? Or his grandchildren?
Everyone could only watch, except Elizabeth. She placed her hand on Caspian's shoulder and called to him softly, the same way she did when he was a little child and when he still needed her. Elizabeth didn't expect his next actions, neither did anyone else.
Caspian suddenly pulled his mother into a tight hug. It took a while for it to register for Elizabeth that her first child was hugging her right now. Caspian hasn't hugged her since he was seven years old. Since then he had spent his other years with the responsibility of protecting his family and improving his family. But now, here he was hugging her, tightly.
Like if he let go she'll disappear. It reminded her of when Caspian used to have bad dreams as a child and how he'll hold on to her and wouldn't let her leave. The same way he held onto her now.
Her son must be scared. Her precious boy must be terrified. Elizabeth thought as hot tears rolled down her face.
Elizabeth heart sunk into a thousand depts when she felt his lone and sad tears on the clothe of her shoulders.
She hadn't seen her son cry since he was seven and even then he would hold his tears and frown his face to hold back his tears. But here he was in her arms years later, in tears. And she was helpless."Oh Caspian." She wrapped her arms around him and patted his back in the way she used to just it comfort him but she doubted it had the same effect right now.
"I can't lose her."
Although the voice was small, Elizabeth had heard it clearly, which only made her tears flow faster.
"I can't."
"Oh Caspian." Elizabeth's voice broke. What should she tell him? What exactly could say right now when her son needed her the most? She couldn't tell him sorry, she couldn't tell him they were gonna be okay, so she told him one thing.
"You won't lose her." Instead it came out more like a prayer. To whoever was listening above. To protect her son, her daughter-in-law and her grandchildren.
******
Seconds felt like hours, minutes felt like decades, hours felt like millennium as Caspian stood there watching a door that his world laid behind.
He tired to remember for one second what his life had been without Katherine and for a mili second, he couldn't remember.
How had he even exist without her ?
How would he exist without her?
And for the first time in his entire life,
Caspian prayed. To anyone, to any god, to any being, to any entity that exists or could exist.
'Give me my family.'

The surgery felt like it stretched on for days even if it was just a few hours. Elizabeth held onto Caspian's hand not letting go of him but she was tired. The tears, fear, shock and worry were already taking it's toll on her and she refused to leave the hospital.
