THIRD PERSON POV.His hand shook as desperation flooded his entire body. Tears began to gather at the back of his eyes and the urge to scream was building at his throat. Everything he had built, everything he had worked for, everything he had hoped for all dashed. It had absolutely nothing to do with him, he wanted to scream. It wasn't his fault, he wanted to beg.
But he had done all that already, repeating it he knew would only be futile and ruin him more. What had he done wrong? He had worked hard everyday. He had given the company his all. His everything was that not enough to remedy his mistakes.
Pity settled at the heart of the others in the room but they didn't show it. Poor man, they thought. But that didn't settle the fear that they might me next . That he would discover their wrongs and ruin them for it.
They could see the struggle, the denial that the man was facing. They knew he was thinking about fighting, he wanted to fight. And they were right. Clarkson wasn't going to give up. Caspian Montgomery was notorious for his dealings but he couldn't back down without a fight. Why should he be taken? Why should he lose everything?
"You can't do this to me Caspian."Although Clarkson voice shook, his eyes held the desperate flame to keep on fighting as he addressed him by his name.
"I don't deserve this." His eyes was red and wild, his blue tie was badly worn around his neck, his collar and hair disheveled. He looked like a crazy man. "I don't!" He yelled. The vains in his head, and skull and next was thumping against his skin.
Caspian clenched his fist trying to control his irritation. The man's shrill cries and yell just only made him more irritated. Caspian turned to the man who sat adjacent him. Jasper Pollock, his lawyer. A very good one at that.
Jasper looked at the desperate man who looked at his boss with eyes filled with a thousand emotions. He almost pitied him. He would pity anyone that is on the other side of Caspian Montgomery. He knew Caspian was telling him to take care of it. Jasper knew that that was Caspian's only act of kindness and it spoke. "Handle this or I'll handle it." Mr Clarkson had worked for the Montgomerys for years. Even worked with Authur Montgomery. That was why he wasn't pushed out before he could open his mouth."Mr Clarkson you need to calm down. Whether you take this to court or not it's still going to turn out the same way." Jasper said carefully like he was trying to explain sex to a toddler.
Clarkson turned his eyes away from the annoying lawyer. He had never liked him before. He was one of Caspian's men who did his dirty deed for him.
"Caspian!" Caspian jaw clenched as Clarkson said his name with such intensity and familiarity it made his hand clench into a fist. "I worked for your father before I worked for you. The growth of your power and Influence was also because of my efforts. The Montgomerys owe me Caspian. You owe me!" He yelled like a mad man.
Caspian tilted his head to the side. His index finger came up to rest at his temple. He cocked his brows as he looked at the raging man in front of him and he couldn't help but wonder why people tend to think he owes them something. He had never owed anyone anything. Clarkson was one of his highest paid executives. His life was because of him.
The only reason he had tried to be reasonable was because his father wouldn't shut it about how Clarkson was a diligent worker and a confidant to him but the truth was that caspian couldn't care less. He had tried to be civil but now...Caspian stood up from his chair and worked slowly and tauntingly towards the man. A smirk lined his face when he noticed how Clarkson stood a step back in fright. Caspian looked down at his watch before keeping that hand in his pocket.
"I thought you would be grateful. Greatful that I'm going easy on you." Caspian came to a halt in front of the man who was trying to balance on his trembling legs." You should have taken my generosity at the first instance Clarkson." Caspian lips rose a little in a small satisfied smile when he could see the fear in his eyes.
