Wren

I lied in bed thinking about what's Ghost had said, he seemed kind of scary yet sweet at the same time. Did he really see potential in me or was he just being nice? Oh well that wasn't my biggest worry, I needed to sleep so I could wake up early and with energy. I turned off my light and quickly fell asleep, before I knew it I had woken up to another knock at my door. I got up, feeling tired and opened the door to see Captain. "Oh shit, sorry if I woke you y/n" he said quietly since I assumed it was pretty late and he didn't want to wake any of the others. "Have you checked your dog tags yet?" He asked as he stepped into my room. I shook my head and he smiled sweetly. "Oh well, your codename is Wren" I looked up at him slightly surprised but honestly I was to tired to care or really understand. I nodded and yawned as he took a step back and apologised once again for waking me.

I went back to bed and woke the next morning early, around 5am so I could be ready. While I was getting changed into my gear I noticed the dog tags and remember what Price and I had been talking about. I held them in my hand and traced the writing with my finger before putting it around my neck and tucking it in beneath my clothes. I left my room and wandered around the corridors for a while, trying to get my bearings of the place. Eventually I found the kitchen and walked in, I looked up and saw Gaz sitting on the edge of a counter. He looked up at me and smiled slight, I looked down and began to make toast because I was absolutely starving. "So... you are single though, right?" He asked as he watched me closely as I made the food, I nodded but stayed silent. "Ah great! You know, I'd get with you but I think the the big fella has been eyeing you" he said as he got off the counter and was about to leave but when I heard that I raised my head. "What? Who are you talking about?" I asked curiously as I looked back at him. "Simon" he said with a slight smile as he left the kitchen, leaving me alone with my thoughts and toast. Hm, hardly I thought to myself as I shrugged and sat up on the counter as I ate my toast.

Once I finished I got up and walked around a bit more before hearing over the intercom that there was a meeting about a mission, I quickly walked to the meeting room and sat down as the others came in chatting but stopped once they too sat. "Alright we have a mission, lads. Tomorrow, 4am we leave in the chopper to base toro and take down the enemy. Soap, Gaz yer on the same team and will hold building 3. Alejandro and myself will take building 1 and Wren and Ghost, ye are in building 2." He says as looks around the table. "Sleep early and wake earlier." He said with a smirk as he got up and dismissed the meeting.

I was about to go back into my room when I felt a large hand on my shoulder again, it was the same hand from last time, Ghost. I turned around a gave him a small smile. "So since we'll be on the same team, want to train with me for a bit?" He asked, looking away slightly nervously. I smiled warmly and nodded, he smiled back brightly as if he was surprised I had said yes. We walked into the training hall and got changed into gym gear. When I finished getting changed into a sports bra and some shorts I came out and saw him patiently waiting for me, he was wearing some loose boxing shorts and no shirt but obviously still had his balaclava which made me smile. I walked over to him "ready?" I asked as I stretched slightly as he nodded in response.

"So have you ever done close contact fighting?" He asked, smiling beneath his mask as he spoke and stretched with me. "Yes sir" I said nodding. "Then let's get straight to it, you get first hit." He said cockily as he looked at me and smirked. I thought to myself for a moment weighing up my choices did I want to show him my strength and risk hurting him or go easy and possibly disappoint him I thought to myself before going with the first option as I really didn't want to disappoint him. I strongly punched his stomach and winded him, I will admit I felt bad but knew I needed to show I'm strong. I quickly ran behind him and put him in a chokehold and held him tightly, my other hand pinning his wrists behind his back. "You can tap out at anytime, Ghost" I said loosening my grip slightly but immediately he replied with "I'm just being easy with you because I don't want to hurt you." He said semi-sternly. "I'd prefer you to hurt me than for me to be fighting a dead fight" I say fully releasing him. "You want to get hurt?" He asked confused as he looked back at me and into my eyes. "We'll it's better that a unfair fight." I respond with as I stare back into his blue eyes. "Well.. don't say I didn't warn you" he said as he got up and immediately swung a punch that completely caught me off guard and landed directly across my face. I stumble back as my nose began to bleed, my smile fading as I touch my nose and felt the blood, it was definitely going to leave a bruise. I got back up and ran at him jumping up and tackling him to the floor, pinning his hands above his head as I sat on his chest pinning him down. Both of us breathing heavily trying to catch out breaths as we just looked at eachother. "Honestly, I'm impressed" he said smiling warmly as I let go of him and we got up.

"Sorry about your nose by the way..." he said moving closer to me and holding my cheek in his hand as he wiped away some of the blood from my face with his finger. "Ah no worries mate" I say closing my eyes as he let go. He smiled softly and nodded as I began to walk back to my room, my head still throbbing from the punch but I ignored it and focused on our mission tomorrow, when my thinking was suddenly interrupted by a voice. "Jesus Wren, you ok? You don't look so good?" Said Price as I looked up at him, his face seemed slightly concerned and worried. "Oh yeah, just a scratch I got while training" I say smile through the stinging sensation in my head. His expression didn't change as he let out a sigh and spoke again "just be careful next time, you need to be ok for tomorrow. Now get some rest soldier". I nodded as I walked back into my room and got into the shower, I looked down and saw the water running off me was stained slightly red from my blood as I sighed. I got out and changed before going to bed and immediately sleep.
