Once I sat down he began eating and chatting with me. "Did you like the flowers?" He asked as he took a large bite from the pancake, maintaining eye contact as he did so. I nodded and gave him a small smile in return. "Did you read the note?" He asked as he chewed, his smile fading slightly in what seemed to be anticipation for my answer. I stayed silent for a moment before breaking eye contact, I shook my head slightly as I spoke "well, I tried but.." I paused as I looked back up into his eyes "I can't read German" I said with a small sympathetic smile. I lied, well kind of. I couldn't read German apart from the odd word or two but I analysed the note and translated it, I knew exactly what he had said yet I didn't want him to realise that.

"O-oh.. sorry, I forgot..." he mumbled as he looked down, he looked a mix of ashamed and embarrassed. "It's ok, I'm glad we're friends though" I said softly as I began to get up, I felt I had to state we were friends, only friends. "I better get going now, see you at the helicopter" I got up and walked over to his door before slipping out and closing the door quietly but quickly behind me. I felt bad for just leaving him so suddenly and lying about the note but I knew I didn't have the heart to let him down.

As I walked around base for the last 15 minutes I had before I had to meet the others I noticed Gaz outside. I peered put the window and watched him, he seemed to by trying to hide but was failing. I decided I'd join him in whatever he was doing. As I left the building I felt the cold morning air hit my face, I shivered slightly at first but the shivering stopped once I began walking over to Gaz. "What are you doing out here?" I asked once he was in my view, he seemed to jump from surprise when he heard my voice and immediately glared over to me. He was smoking, he seemed to relax a bit when he saw it was just me. "Just wanted a few puffs before the mission, to help me relax, you know?" He said as I walked over to him, i gave him a nod of understanding in response. "Want one?" He said as he held the pack of cigarettes out to me, I hesitated for a moment before thinking of something. "Could I take a few? Like for later and stuff?" I asked, feeling that he'd probably say no. He chuckled slightly before speaking again "go on" I reached out and took five before placing them in one of the pockets on my tactical vest.

"Didn't think you'd be one for that many cigs" he said with a slight laugh as he saw me take them "you know nothing about me" I said as I smiled and rolled my eyes jokingly. "Shit, I better get the last of my gear" I said as I checked the time again, he nodded as I quickly walked back to my room. I grabbed my helmet and pocket knife but before I left I glanced back and saw the balaclava that Ghost had given me for the last mission and quickly grabbed it, putting it on before I left my room. I wasted no time in getting to the helicopter where it seemed I was first apart from Price. "Those pancakes were good, where'd you learn how to cook like that?" He asked curiously, just making small talk until the others arrived. "My mom thought me when I was little" I responded with as patted down my cargos to make sure I had eye black like Ghost had instructed to wear with the balaclava last time I had worn it.

The others arrived soon after and we all boarded the helicopter. Ghost, Soap and I all sat in the back row again. As we all were buckling in I heard Ghost let out a low mumble "shitttt.." he groaned quietly as he tilted his head back in frustration. "What's wrong?" I asked as I looked up at him "forgot it, my eye black" he mumbled as he looked back at me, I smiled slightly in response "your lucky you have me" I said as I reached up, grabbing his chin gently and bringing his face closer to mine as I took out my eye black and began filling in the area around his eyes . He smiled back, I had gotten used to reading his emotions and expressions even from beneath his balaclava at this point. He eyes seemed to soften as I got closer to make sure I had covered all the areas, once I done I let go of him gently and began on my own eye black. Mine was much messier that Ghost's but only because I had left my pocket mirror back at base.

As the helicopter took off there seemed to be a bit of turbulence which caused it to shake a bit, i hadn't tightened my belt tight enough so i almost fell out of my seat but before I could fall Ghost wrapped his leg around mine and placed his arm firmly around my shoulder. In return I clinged onto his tactical vest tightly.
