Price stared down at the table, silence falling all around until he said one last thing. "This meeting is dismissed." His tone was sharp and cold. No one stayed longer than they had to, all of us scurrying out the door. Instantly I went over to Gaz to ask him if he was ok and so see what happened in there. "Hey, Gaz" I said quietly as my hand brushed against his shoulder to stop him as he hobbled away with his crutches. As soon as my hand touched him he tensed up and stopped dead in his tracks, letting out a shaky breath as his head turned to face me. "Are you ok?" I asked hesitantly and worriedly. He didn't respond, in words at least, but rather just hugged me tightly as he began to sob quietly. I hugged him back immediately, placing one of my hands on the back of his head, allowing him to know I was there for him as he wept into my shoulder. I didn't dare say anything until about five minutes later when he had finally barely collected himself enough to speak.

"Come on, we can talk in my room" I offered and he nodded, readjusting his crutches and beginning to walk with me. I opened the door to my room and let him in, closing it behind us. I assisted him to sit down on one of the chairs by my desk and then sat myself on the edge of my bed.

"What's wrong." This time I didn't really ask since I knew that answering would have been a choice, so instead I more softly demanded knowing that he'd have to answer. He looked up at me with teary eyes filled with pain and sorrow. "Price thinks my injuries are bad... too bad for me to continue as a soldier-" as soon as he uttered those words, it felt as if my world stood still. No, no, there was no way. I kept saying that to myself but I wouldn't believe myself no matter how much I wished I could. "He can't do that" i said suddenly, a small hint of disbelief and rage laced within my tone. "He can... he's the captain and I'm just a sergeant..." Gaz said quietly, obviously trying to hide his sadness even though he wasn't doing a very good job. He let out a sigh as he turned away, beginning to walk to his room. My heart urged me to chance after him but my brain talked me out of it knowing that would have not been the smart thing to do.

I led out a shaky breath as I glanced up at my bedroom door, someone was there waiting. They were just standing, staring at me. My vision was slightly hazed so I couldn't tell who it was exactly at first but as my eyes adjusted to the large figure as it began to slowly approach me. As soon as I felt one of the persons hands softly caress my cheek which now had a small tear trail's residue left as a streak upon it, I realised that it was Simon. Without either of us saying a single word, he hugged me suddenly and tightly, tears finally falling freely from my eyes as I felt his warm embrace. His large hand stoked through my hair gently as his chin rested gently on top of my head. My hands clung to his tactical vest with my face pressed against his chest, soft sobs escaping my lips every now and then. "Please don't leave me..." I whispered quietly, breaking the silent sobs between us.

He didn't reply. "Simon please-" I pleaded, this time more pathetically. I felt myself cringe realising just how desperate I sounded. My grip on him tightened as his grim eyes met mine, tears still flowing down my face causing my cheeks to glisten with the teardrops. "y/n..." Simon finally spoke, but not in a way that would give one closure but rather in a fearful warning tone causing my eyes to look at him with confusion and pleadingness. "You know I have to go... no matter how much I want to stay with you I'll always have to prioritise my orders." As soon as those words left him mouth it felt as if time in its fullness had stood still, reflecting it's dumbfoundedness likewise to the expression that glistening in my eyes in disbelief to what he had just stated. He didn't care what I said since at the end of the day he was always going to listen to Price over me.

Immediately my grip on him loosened as I just looked at him, still not fully comprehending what he had just so casually stated. Soon the pleading look of fear and confusion in my eyes chances to a glare of upsetness and rage. He was still standing right in front of my with his hands resting softly on my shoulders as if we were had just kissed it some other lovey dovey bullshit like that which just was fuel to the flames that was burning my heart down into a sooty grey mess of smoke. Without even knowing what I was doing, I raised my hands and pushed him away from me in a fit of rage and anger. He stumbled back from how surprisingly strong my push was but he caught himself and stood back upright, except now he was at least two meters (6ft) away from me. He gave me a sad and confused look as if he couldn't understand why I had done what I had done. "y/n-" he began but was quickly cut off by me. "Leave." I demanded coldly, turning my head as not to look at him since honestly I couldn't even if I wanted to. He didn't argue, rather he just nodded somewhat in defeat and made his way to my door, leaving silently without another word, leaving me alone.
