Chapter 10

Regina's POV

I woke up in pain.

This is happening to every one of us, every month, all our life.

I took my time and kept my eyes closed as if it would help. Today is October 25, new moon starts in the morning. I can hear the faint rustling of leaves and vines that were probably all over the room by now.

New moon is when our powers are in the highest level. Like in my vision, if we want to do something so powerful, we have these phrases or chants to call on the moon. Though, we have to do this on top of the pain we are feeling.

But at ordinary times, which is most of the time, minus the happenings in my vision, no one needs that much power. Nothing to use it for. So we are simply just in pain. A payback to what the first Vanguardia did.

The problem is that we have not much control during new moon. The power just bursts out of us, quite literally for lifegivers like me. I have a long scar in my shoulder, near my collarbone, and during new moon, a series of tiny green plants grow and stay there until it's over, just for a couple of hours.

It's kinda beautiful, though, as if I become one with nature. But it's the one channeling all pain and it spreads within my body.

My eyes changed colors and remain like that for those hours. For every earth-like material around me, plants were growing. Like in dust, tissues and wet papers, pot of soil, anything.

Dahil nandito ako sa mundo ng mga tao, kailangan namin siya itago. We have no control, but we trained on how to limit this in one place. So, condo is safe.

Come to think of that vision, there are so many irregularities in there. First, I am not in pain at that time, then, I can control that power. And how did I know that chant, "sa pagsapit ng bagong buwan, kung saan ang kapang..".

Well, I better not repeat it. But I never heard that before.

Another wave of pain hits me, and I nestled deeper to the warmth that's beside me, present as soon as I woke up. I hold on tightly on her shirt just to..

Wait!

My vision. That's last night and we..

We fell asleep on the couch.

..

Agad napabalikwas ako ng higa and found Narda under me, staring widely to my eyes which I'm sure is now flickering with green and gold.

"Oh shit!"
