37. Only Ever You

Davina had a patch made for Aemond. She had the smiths working on it since Aemond had mentioned it to her and wanted it to be perfect.

"Thank you mama Dav!" Aemond declared as Davina helped him put it on.

"You are welcome." Davina remarked as Aemond hugged her.

"Snazy." Draeya declared as Davina took a step back.

"Skoros morghot?" Davina asked.

''Kirimvose.'' Aemond said and Davina smirked.

"What did he say?" Alicent questioned.

"Thank you." Davina translated. "He is quite the fast learner. But Draeya gives him good motivation don't you honey..." Davina teased.

"Motivation is good for learning mama." Draeya assured her.

"Kirimvose Muña. Kirimvose Draeya." Aemond told them and Draeya kissed his cheek.

The news of Davina's pregnancy was the capitals most talked about news since the news of Daemon and Rhaenyra's marriage hit the capitals ears.

Which only made Davina want to hide more. She spent a lot of time in bed or in the dragon pits. She went from one place to the other. The kids came to her and told her stories, read books, colored the walls.

They came in practicing their high Valyrian and Davina would correct them or applaud them proudly. Then at night, the nights were so long and she was restless. Alicent slept in bed beside her, delicate fingers running over the little baby bump.

"Do you want to get out of bed today?" Alicent questioned as she opened the curtains and pushed open the balcony door. Davina groaned hiding under the covers. "I'm having a bath made for you." Alicent remarked. "When was the last time you bathed?" Davina groaned curling up into a ball under the covers. "You will thank me." Alicent assured.

"End the union between Aegon and Helaena." Davina corrected, Alicent stared back at her as the handmaidens came in preparing the bath. "Dont make them miserable." Alicent moved silently to Davina.

"I already did. This morning actually." Alicent admitted. "I dont want them to be forced into a marriage as I was. I want them to be happy as you were."

"Good mama." Davina whispered before pulling the covers back up over her head.

"No, no, no Davi." Alicent corrected pulling the blankets down. "Up you get." Alicent turned back to the handmaidens. "And make it Extra hot until its burning the average humans skin." Alicent recalled how hot Davina preferred her baths.

"The babe." They corrected.

"As hot as you allow it." Alicent countered.

"Tepid." Davina remarked as she ran her hand along the water. Alicent watched her as she let her dress fall to the ground. Stepping in she sunk into the water. "Freezing, fucking freezing." Davina declared reaching out for Alicent.

"Boy or girl?" Davina whispered bringing Alicent's hand to her stomach, she felt the warm water surround her as her hand became submerged.

Alicent let her hand roam over Davina's stomach trailing up casually.

"What do you want?" Alicent countered.

"Cake." Davina admitted.

"Theres my girl." Alicent agreed laughing as she got closer kneeling beside the tub.

"It doesnt... I mean its been moons... shouldnt they be bigger?" Davina pondered feeling the gentle touches on her stomach.

"Maybe its not twins this time." Alicent offered.

"Maybe." Davina agreed. "What if i'm... what if I can't..." davina stopped herself, her lips pursing. What if she couldnt do this without Harwin? What if she messed the child up? What if she drank to much and drowned the babe? What if, what if, what if...

Alicent rested her chin on Davinas shoulder their heads tipping into each other as the water rose and fell with every breath davina took.

''This pain isnt going to last forever.'' Alicent whispered kissing her cheek. ''I know it feels like it now... but I promise it wont.'' Davina nodded slightly her tears filling her eyes until she blinked and they cascaded down her cheeks drip drip dripping into the bath water.

Davina looked to Alicent and she smiled softly as she ran her hand up and down Davina's arm.

"What?" ALicent pondered.

"You look at me as though im the answer to every question. You look at me and see me. All of me. You are not blind to my flaws yet you love me anyways."

"We all have our demons." Alicent reminded her. "And I have grown to love you from afar, getting to be this close to you, I hate that you had to lose someone, to lose him but while you see yourself as broken I see a woman capable of greatness. I see your potential. I see you. You make me feel safe and loved and when I'm breaking down you are there for me too..." 

"From afar..." Davina rasped. 

"I love you. I think I have only ever loved you." Alicent admitted and davina believed her, felt the steady beat of  her heart as she got closer kissing Davina and it felt like home.
