''The Conqueror and his sisters sailed with a great army.'' Jace repeated

''Se Blakuata Rasho dranot vilinio viartis." Maester Gerardys told him in high Valyrian.

Jace let out a sigh as he tried to remember the right translation. He had been learning over the years when he visited Davina and now Rhaenyra was finally teaching him properly, well a maester was. Jace always thought it strange that his mother ignored him and Luke and even Joffrey once she wed Daemon. Like she had forgotten about them and their existence once she started pushing out new, very silver haired siblings.

Jace liked that Davina helped teach her children. Quizzed them, encouraged them to speak it throughout the day. Jace liked that she was letting them marry who they wanted to when they wanted to. Encouraged Alicent to do the same. He missed the capital, he missed Davina and his uncles, his cousins. He felt very alone on dragon stone. He missed Haezel but their relationship was still never the same.

''And landed at the Blackwater Rush." Jace told him

"Dranot." He corrected and Jace's face pinched

'Dranot, dranot, dranot.'' He repeated again and again.

''At the end?'' Gerardys urged. Jace closed his eyes as he paced.

''The mouth.'' Rhaenyra told him as she walked forward.

''Mouth!'' he declared a moment too late. "Ah, come on, Jace, you knew that." He told himself annoyed.

" Dranot," Rhaenyra informed him.

''Dranot, Dranot." He repeated thoroughly frustrated. Rhaenyra didn't seem to notice his pain. " vilinio viartis. Dranot. Dranot." He repeated again.

''Come on, Jace. Perhaps that's enough for this morning." Rhaenyra suggested.

''No, no. I-I want to keep going.'' Jace assured. ''Maester.'' He begged

''Guesi misenakson Aegon undas.'' Gerardys went on

''Aegon... ordered that the trees should be..." Jace pursed his lips in concentration ''...killed.''

''Felled.' Rhaenyra corrected

''It is a related word.' Jace offered hopefully.

''I don't expect you to learn High Valyrian in a day, Jace.'' Rhaenyra reminded him

''A king should honor the traditions of his forbears.'' Jace reminded her. But he didn't want to be king, he wanted to ride dragons and act in Vaera and Haezel's plays and listen to Davina's silly stories about dragons or about the stars late at night that grandsire told Davina when she was little.

''Well... unless you're planning to depose your own mother, you have plenty of time to study.'' Rhaenyra reminded him and Jace nodded as the door opened. "Leave us." Rhaenyra told them all as Daemon came in. "Now." Jace sighed, they were always second best to Daemon. Always.

''Joffrey... come.'' Jace said extending a hand for him.

''He means to call into question Luke's legitimacy. And by extension Jace, and by extension my own claim to the throne''. Rhaenyra remarked appalled as Daemon passed off the scroll.

" Vaemond cares only about Driftmark and the Velaryon line. Not about our politics. Has he made common cause with Otto Hightower yet?" Rhaenyra went on and Daemon tilted his head from side to side in contemplation.

''Hm, this is what I fear. Rhaenys has flown to court.'' Daemon agreed

''Surely, she cannot be planning to back him.''

''No. Whatever disagreements we may have had, she's not cruel... or stupid enough to do that.'' Daemon agreed

''Disagreements?''

''She believes we had her son killed so that we might marry.'' Daemon reminded her and Rhaenyra rolled her eyes.

''Yes... and yet, she's taken Baela to ward.'' Rhaenyra reminded him

''Yes. It is Laena's memory she honors. She has no love for us. Davina either." Daemon reminded her. ''Has the vipers' venom spread so far?'' Daemon knew Davina hated him. Knew it was his fault. Knew there was no hope, but Viserys was a dying man and the crown would be his soon enough. But since Davina was whispering in the queens ear, he knew for now she held a bit of power, power that he himself wanted.

''The queen rules in my father's name. And my father..." Rhaenyra sighed. ''What choice do I have?''

''To King's Landing, then.'' Daemon agreed. "Time to see Davina."

"Viserys..."

"Hello Dav." He said through a thick breath.

"I'm going to have the maester come in and give do your treatments... do you want a bath today?" Davina asked a hand gently moving his hair from his eyes.

"yes... that would be.. good." He agreed slowly.

"Okay, I will have them draw a bath and I will help you, alright?"

"Yes." Viserys agreed.

"Alright." Davina agreed kissing his forehead.

"Davina," Criston said running up behind her. "You alright?"

"What's that?" Davina said looking to the scroll in his hand.

"News for the king of course." Criston remarked.

"Draw Viserys a bath." She instructed a handmaiden as she leaned against the wall outside Viserys chambers. "What does this scroll have to say, hmm? Anything interesting?" Davina questioned looking to Alicent.

"I wouldn't dare read it." Alicent mused.

"The seal is broken am I going to like what it has to say Alicent?"

"Definitely not." Criston agreed. With a sigh Davina unrolled it and stared down at the words.

"Vaemond, joy." Davina mused. "Your grace... how would you like to proceed?" Davina questioned looking to Alicent.
