Sophia was greeted at the start of the March camp with a big bouquet of flowers, a selection of cakes from the shop she liked just in the village down from SGP and an abundance of balloons in crammed into her office, which she thought was probably Alex's doing.
She had officially been with England for a full year now, well just over a year, so they wanted to make a big deal about it. The team had decided to make her aware of how much she bought to their group and how thankful they were for her to even take the job in the first place, not to mention what she had done for the team since then.
It felt like a dream to find a job that she would actually enjoy for half the time but with her job here she enjoyed it every single day. She probably wouldn't change anything about it, except maybe one thing.
And that one thing was the boy that had just knocked on her door to her office, the same boy that she had found herself thinking about since their encounter at the Christmas party. The same boy that she had spent hours looking through his Instagram, feeling herself fancy him a bit more with every scroll of her thumb.
So, if she could change anything it would either be that she never met Mason Mount, although she knew she wouldn't wish that upon anyone, or the fact that she would be able to date a player, she knew she couldn't, well shouldn't, but to her that made it all the more exciting.
"Come in" she shouts as the door pushes open, his happy face smiling at her as he steps into her office. The multi-coloured balloons move across the floor as he moves the door, he cannot even see the floor, and if he knows Sophia the way he thinks he does, she will be annoyed that her nice, neat, and tidy office is now looking like a kids play centre.
"Happy One Year" he smiles as he trudges through the lake of balloons, before finding the chair and sitting down. He passes her over the smoothie he had got for her on his way up. When he had received the notice that she wanted to see him, he thought he would at least not show up empty handed.
"Thanks, Mase" she replies back, instinctively calling him by the nickname she had heard so many others call him. She picks up the drink and draws the straw into her mouth, it's Strawberry and Banana, her favourite "so the reason I asked to see you was to tell you that your stats have been up at Chelsea since the last time we spoke, as well as during the September camp, so whatever you are doing keep it up" she had looked through the reports that the Chelsea team had sent through to her and especially in the last two weeks it was like he had returned to form. There was a slight dip in January, but she just placed that down to January blues.
"Ah thanks Soph" the nickname he used for her when they were both drunk, a name she doesn't really let anyone else use for her except her sisters and now Mason. She had made a thing on her first day that her name was Sophia and no other variation so that's what the team called her "I really appreciate it" he grinned from ear to ear, he liked receiving praise from her, he liked the way it made him feel to know she was proud of him.
"You don't need to thank me" she smiled at him "just keep it up" she replied as he smiled back at her. He didn't want to let her down, so if he had to work his ass off to be the best he would, he just liked seeing Sophia smile at him and he would make sure she was never disappointed in him.

When Mason had come to camp he had felt like a weight was lifted once again. He felt like he was probably over Daisy now, enough that he didn't feel a sense of 'what if' for what could they be if they worked out. She had decided to go away for a year, she had a contract with F1, and he had first of all been gutted when she left as it was like his best friend leaving him, however with time he knew it was the right choice for them.
Not having her around had made everything seem crystal clear. So, with that he called things off with Meg. She was a nice girl and would make anyone happy, but just not him. She had taken it better than he thought she would, but he knew he needed to do it. He was in a way using Meg to fill the void Daisy had left and that wasn't fair on anyone. He felt that without her around he could actually see that he didn't need someone else to be happy.
He had also been excited about seeing Sophia again, he doesn't know what it was about her that kept drawing him back, but he found himself having some kind of illicit crush on her. She was like stiflers mum, a fictional character that played rent free in his mind, fantasizing about what he could do with her if they only had the chance. She was like the teacher that Busted wrote 'What I go to school for' about. He felt that was the best way to sum her up. She was exactly why he enjoyed coming to camp the most. He just liked being around her, she was different to other girls.
As well with this camp things felt even better because he felt like he had Dec back. Even though he shouldn't see the positive in it he did when Dec and Laura broke up a couple of weeks ago. He remembers seeing Dec the day afterwards and it was like a weight had lifted off of his chest as well and he was the old Dec again. So, everything felt like it was falling into place.

"Let's go again" shouted Liam as he had the boys running drills in the brisk March air.
Sophia had zipped her coat right up as she snuggled into the puffer material. The cup of tea she was holding was more of a hand warmer than anything else. She cast her eyes over the boys as they continued to run back and forth, working their way through the sets that Liam had arranged for them.
She looks towards Mason, his nose red from the cold, his hat pulled down low on his head and his neck warmer cupping his jaw. He was wrapped up as much as he could as he started jumping up and down on the spot waiting for his turn to run the line.
He looked towards Sophia as she bought her tea up to her lips, taking a sip of the piping hot liquid, hoping this would warm her up from the inside out.
"Jealous" he mouthed at her as she let out a slight giggle. She did an over exaggerated 'ahhhh' as she took another sip as she watched him slyly stick his middle finger up at her.
She wasn't sure when they had become this comfortable but if anything, this felt so normal. She probably wouldn't find herself sharing jokes with Jordan Henderson or talking about failed love lives with Eric Dier and she was 100% sure she wouldn't allow any of these to even engage in any inside jokes with her. But with Mason, it was like all the rules she had written down went out the window.
