It was late in the night and Sophia couldn't sleep, her room was stifling and no matter how wide she opened her window there was no air. She had decided to get herself back up, and head out for a walk, she thought maybe the fresh air would cool her down. She had a pair of lounge shorts on and a cropped vest top, so she draped her patterned shawl around her and her sliders on her feet and snuck off down towards her office.

She didn't really want to be walking around near the hotel part of the complex, she didn't like the idea of the players or staff seeing her wandering around, also she didn't feel like making small talk, her mind was running wild.

Since her moment with Mason 2 days ago she couldn't seem to think straight at all. Neither of them had mentioned it, even though they had picked back up their smoothie date each morning and she had chances alone with him outside on the pitch. She wasn't sure if he wasn't bringing it up because it made him uncomfortable, maybe her admission had been a step too far. She certainly wasn't going to talk about it again.

She had been spending too much time consumed with him when they weren't together, and when they were together it was like their eyes were drawn to each other like magnets and her heart would start practically beating out of her chest.

She was sure this was why she wasn't sleeping well either, it was all too much, so as the cooler June air hit her, she felt her temperature drop, as well as her pulse slow down. She walked around to the pathway by the side of her office, towards the tree that she had had that moment with Mason before.

It was like everywhere she went she was faced with him. It was like they had left pieces of their tension dotted around these grounds and she couldn't escape them. She still walked towards it as she looked in front of her, another figure rounding the corner, a smile on his face as he noticed it was her.

"Can't sleep?" asked Mason as he got closer to Sophia.

He had taken himself out here to try and stop thinking about her, today had been a really tough day for him and he needed to cool off. It had been exceptionally hot, and Sophia had decided to wear a pair of shorts, not hot pants or pulled up shorts like Jack wears, just respectable shorts. But that little bit of extra skin that he saw today had drove him crazy.

He found himself in his room palming himself lightly over the thought of her, over the things he wanted to do to her, and he knew he needed to get outside before he did something he wasn't sure he would regret. He had typed out a message to her 3 times already tonight before deleting it so he felt going for a walk would take his mind off of her for just a little while at least.

Yet here he was faced with her.

"Nope" she said with a shy smile "guessing you couldn't either" she replied as they were now within touching distance, stood slightly under the tree.

"Nope" he laughed as she did too "Listen Soph, I think we need to talk" he said, not sure where this surge confidence had come from, but seeing her in a very short pair of shorts and barely anything covering her chest he knew it was now or never.

Sophia blushed slightly as she looked at him, a white t-shirt and a pair of shorts was all he had on, he looked incredible, even with his messed-up hair which she could only guess was from where he had been tossing and turning in his bed trying to get to sleep, like she had.

However, she couldn't believe he was actually bringing this up. There, of course, had been something unspoken between them, a feeling of sexual tension whenever they were together, moments they had shared together that in any other situation could be something more than just a flirt between friends, however that was exactly what it was, unspoken.

But now as Mason spoke the words it had become real, it had become something that they needed to deal with, something that neither of them felt like they could live with any longer.

"Yeah" said Sophia laughing slightly, unsure of what to say, unsure of how to say what she felt.

"I'm gonna spit it out" said Mason laughing slightly as he could see the timid version of Sophia that he had hardly seen, not the assertive coach who would boss him around and yell at him, but this small figure that seemed cautious about what to say "I really like you" he admitted as his eyes looked at her head, urging her to look up at him, rather than on her feet "and I don't know if you like me too, but I just needed to shoot my shot"

Sophia had her eyes solely planted on the grass beneath her feet, she didn't want to look up at him in case he said that he felt uncomfortable around her, or that he wanted whatever they had been doing to stop. But as she heard him say that he liked her she felt the butterflies swirl within her stomach.

She looked up at him "I like you too" she replied, remembering her motto that she doesn't want to regret not taking the chances that are in front of her. And that's what was happening now, Mason stood right in front of her, and she couldn't not say how she felt.

Mason took a step closer to her now, his hand delicately touching her hip as his other hand reached up to her upper back, the base of her neck. Sophia reached her hands to his chest, feeling how toned he was getting, he was still quite boney compared to some of the other lads, but to her he was perfect.

His hand that was on the base of her neck travelled round, brushing her hair off her shoulders as he did. His fingers lightly stroking upon her jaw before resting under her chin, tilting her head up to face him. Even though there wasn't much height difference between them right now she felt tiny in his arms.

Before she could think about any reasons as to why this was wrong, or why she really shouldn't be doing this, Mason's lips delicately grazed hers, kissing slightly. It was the most perfect feeling in the world. It only lasted for a second before he pulled away, a light smacking noise could be heard in the still night.

And within seconds their lips found each other again. She wasn't sure if it was her who initiated it or him but all she did know was that they moved together like they had been doing this for years, it was like their bodies knew one another. She could taste the minty taste upon his breath, guessing he hadn't long brushed his teeth as she savoured his kiss.

Mason's hand that had been tilting Sophia's chin up to look at him had now moved to the side of her face, his fingers brushing into her hair, almost digging in slightly as he pulled her lips forcefully to his. He was hungry for this kiss; he had been dreaming about it for almost a year now and he wanted to appreciate every single moment.

He wanted to remember the way her lips felt so plump against his, soft and warm, a slight hint of strawberry from the lip balm he guessed she had put on. He wanted to relish in the way her body fitted so perfectly in his arms, her chest falling and rising against his. He wanted to enjoy it all before he knew they would ultimately have to part, and the realisation would hit them of what they had done.
