If Mason thought he fucked up before, he had really gone and done it now, but this time not with Sophia.

He woke up the following morning with his head pounding, his mouth dry and an overwhelming sense of dread washing over him.

It took himself a couple of moments to fully remember what had happened or what had been said but it all came flooding back to him like a sickening nightmare.

He replayed it all through in his head, it was like an outer body experience, he can see himself saying those things and hear the way he was speaking but he couldn't stop himself.

He couldn't take back anything that he said, and he couldn't make anything right and he felt like an absolute idiot.

No, that was being kind to himself, he was horrible, he said some unforgivable things, some real nasty low blow comments that wouldn't normally come out of his mouth but apparently after that many drinks he was capable of anything.

And apparently after hearing your ex-girlfriend and your best friend are now in love with one another and together really does just cause him to check out of reality and another Mason step in.

He had stood frozen to the spot as they walked past and out of the club last night. He could hear voices around them, he could hear Harri she was yelling "what the fuck was that Laura?" before turning on her heel, Ruby grabbing her hand and them rushing to try and find Dec and Daisy.

Laura had burst into the toilet's in tears with Sadie looking towards the door saying "well I guess I'll go sort out that mess" as she headed in there, but still he just stood still.

"Wow" was all he heard from Tom who just stood stunned as Ben spoke, but it was like it was at a distance at first.

"Mase" he said "Mase" once again "MASON" he shouted which snapped him back to reality, looking towards Ben as Woody looked towards him too "are you okay?"

"Yeah" Mason choked out as he let the words weigh on him, fuck he had massively overreacted, he had basically stood there and called Daisy a whore, his best friend Daisy, the girl who was always there for him, he was so vile. But then his mind flicks back to her saying how they kissed in Dubai and he feels that sting.

He lets it sit for a moment and then thinks how he knew things weren't right back then, he could react like Laura, screaming and shouting, crying and kicking off or he could stop for a moment and take stock of what just happened.

Yes, he was hurt, of course he was, his best friend had kissed his girlfriend when they were together and they had kept it from them. They had been going about behind everyone's backs and didn't think to tell them, but they had been caught out and it just had to be him who found them.

But when he really thought about it he had also been sneaking around behind peoples backs, he knew what it felt like to have that weight on your shoulders from wanting to tell everyone about the one you love but not knowing the reaction, he knew it better than most.

He also knew that out of everyone in the whole world that Daisy and Dec would both have never wanted to hurt them and seeing the look on Daisy's face almost broke him.

That image sits prominent in his mind this morning, he thinks of the way she looked, the tears spilling out of her eyes, the way she shook, the way Dec kept his arm on her to stop her from crumbling.

He thinks how even in that moment a part of him wanted to stop what he was saying and step in, wrapping his arms around her and making things right but it was like he couldn't in the moment and that's what makes him so angry.

He had put a message in the group about going for breakfast, he wasn't sure what to say or what to do but he couldn't do much more.

He had tried to phone Dec almost constantly since he left the club, but he wasn't picking up, before long his calls were being sent straight to voicemail.

He had done the same with Daisy but had the same outcome. He had gathered outside of his for everyone to meet, after having a telling off from Ruby first thing in the morning which he never thought he would get, especially with how sweet she was.

"I am really disappointed in you Mason" she said as she shook her head, standing in his hallway with Woody by the side of her "I understand it was a shock and I understand the Dubai thing might have hurt you but the way you spoke to Daisy last night was unacceptable".

Mason felt like a child being scolded but he deserved it, he deserved every single word and disapproving look that Ruby was sending his way.

"And Dec, he's your best mate and you were so silly to argue like that" she frowned at him "you need to apologise to them Mason, you don't want to be losing your two best friends over something so silly, if you still feel upset about something then talk to them while you are sober" she reeled off, obviously letting out all her thoughts as quickly as she could, being the good friend to Daisy that he knew she was.

"I know Rubes" he said, sombre, he felt like shit already but at the same time he needed to hear this "I'm going to apologise".

"Good" she said as she turned on her heel, grabbing Woody's arm and dragging him outside as they all stood and waited, hoping Dec and Daisy would turn up and resolve it.

But it wasn't that way. Mason stood and watched as Dec's car pulled out of his drive with Daisy in the front. The whole group turned but Daisy wasn't looking out the windscreen, she was looking at Dec, he was smiling at her, he could see he was trying to make her laugh and his heart felt like it was being crushed.

He never wanted to be the reason that Daisy hurt, he had spent so long being the person to stop anyone from hurting Daisy and now he was the one inflicting the pain.

The one piece of joy he felt from the situation was that he knew she was with Declan and he knew he would do anything in his power to make her feel happy.

And in that moment it seemed that the only thing that made her happy was getting as far away from him.
