Things had only been going from strength to strength with Mason and Sophia since their first date. They would constantly be texting or on the phone to one another and had both been arranging other times to see each other before the camp started.

Mason had missed her though a lot.

He missed not being able to talk about her in public and he hated keeping things behind closed doors like some sordid affair as that wasn't what this was. However, he understood that for the sake of their jobs it needed to be this way for a while.

He had been buzzing when he got an assist for Chelsea the other weekend but felt sad that he couldn't celebrate with Sophia. However when he checked his phone before getting to the car, after he promised to drop Daisy and the girls home he spotted a message from Soph that made him smile.

Although he quickly had to hide his phone after 'SH' appeared on the screen and Daisy looked over.

It simply read "I am so proud of you every single day" and it made his heart burst, she then sent another message that had him crying out in laughter saying "also from a performance aspect, top tier boyyyy" and he couldn't help but smile, she really had a way of making him feel everything at once.

He had invited her to his place for a Friday night gathering that he was having with the rest of his friends but he knew she would say no, but he wanted her to feel included anyway.

He had told her he was also going to Costco with Daisy to pick up bits the day before as he didn't want her to ever feel like he wasn't telling the truth, he wanted to be transparent with that.

Sophia appreciated it so much, the way Mason would always check with her that she was okay or invite her to things even though she wouldn't be able to come. She was finally starting to feel like the girl who might get it all and that would all be because of Mason.

Not only was he thoughtful, he was also full of surprises. It was Wednesday night and she had just shut down her laptop after finally finalising a set of reports for Southgate to look at when her phone rung.

"What do you want?" she laughed down the phone as she heard Mason laugh back.

"Charming" he said, although he sounded fuzzy like he was in the distance "I decided to be impulsive but I'm now feeling stupid"

"What do you mean?" she asked as she frowned down the phone.

"I mean I'm on the M1 about to come off at Leicester to surprise you but I actually have no clue where you live" he laughed as Sophia burst out laughing.

Sophia relayed her address to Mason as he said he wouldn't be long and ended the call, she couldn't believe this.

About 30 minutes later he turned up, she knew it didn't take 30 minutes to get from the M1 to hers so she guessed he must have gotten lost. However when she opened her door and he was stood their with pizza in his hand and a smile on his face she couldn't help but laugh.

"You couldn't come to pizza night at mine on Friday so pizza night comes to you" he said as she stepped aside and let him into her home.

She had literally ran around tiding since she had gotten his call, trying to make her house look as presentable as possible rather than a tip like it normally was, however right now she didn't care about the state of the room, all she cared about was the fact he was here.

"How long did that take you to get here?" she questioned, knowing it wasn't a short journey.

"About 2 hours" he said as he placed the pizza down on her dining room table and shrugged off his zip up.

He had a really surreal feeling as he looked around her open plan living room, kitchen, it was that feeling that he knew this place yet had never been here. He guessed it was from all the times they had facetimed, she had practically taken him on a tour of her house without meaning too. It was like it felt like home instantly, but maybe that was because Sophia was here.

"That's crazy, you must be shattered" she said, knowing he had early training today as she walks towards him, pulling him in for a kiss, the first one since he had gotten here.

"Doesn't matter" he said with a shrug "I'd drive all night to see you" he smiled as she wrapped her arms tightly around him and he did the same back to her.

"Thank you" she whispers against his lips "you don't realise how much I appreciate all this"

"Don't be silly" he whispers back towards her "I mean it Soph, I'd really do anything for you"

Mason had ended up having a really good night on Friday, even without Sophia. He had spent a large amount of time texting her though, although Daisy did catch him smiling at his phone and did question him on it.

That was the part he hated, hiding it from his friends. Especially Dec and Daisy, he didn't like keeping anything from them.

He always found that they shared so much together so he felt dirty for keeping this to himself.

He was also dying to talk to Daisy about it, he knew she would be able to help, he knew she would be able to give him some advice on it all and maybe help him with finding the right words to say to Sophia so she would know he was serious. But he couldn't risk it at all.

He had allowed his mind to differ away from Sophia as the group had played never have I ever, he found himself too caught up laughing at what some of his friends had actually gotten up to, as well as himself.

It was only on the last question that his mind was fully focused on Sophia and no one else.

"Never have I ever been in love with someone I shouldn't have".

He drank to that, not because he didn't think he should be in love with Sophia, because in his mind he should.

But with the pressure at work it was like he shouldn't, it was like he wasn't able to be in love with her when he really was.

And that's when he realised, in like a flash, he was in love with Sophia.
