The brisk Brighton breeze whipped against Sophia's face as she walked along the promenade, her arm linked in with Amy's as they tried to eat their Mr Whippy's while their hair flew around their faces.

Sophia smiles as she looks towards Char who is trying to get a photo of them all and then to Hanna who is licking the ice cream that's currently dripping down her hand and realising how lucky she is to have these girls.

When they met at the University in Birmingham all those years ago she knew almost instantly that these 3 girls would be friends for life, she knew the second Amy opened up her mouth and made a rather sordid joke about one of the lads in their halls that she wanted to get to know her more.

They practically clung to each other from day one, going to the campus together most days, although Amy was studying marketing whereas Sophia was obviously sport science.

However, they had an inseparable bond and on one fresher's night they bumper into a very carefree girl dancing on her own in the middle of the dance floor, not caring who was watching and they had to go and join her and that was how they met Hanna.

She had told them that she hadn't really made any friends so far, she was here to study philosophy and felt that the right people would gravitate together rather than be rushed and the girls loved that.

Although she did mention there was a girl in her shared halls who she had only spoke to once, a shy girl, always had her head in books, was here to study law and seemed to not want to put herself out there.

And that was Char, and on one occasion when the girls all gathered at Hanna's and Char happened to pop out from a study break she got chatting and that was how they became a group, the 4-some, and Sophia wouldn't change any of them for the world.

It had been a stark contrast when she moved up from the outskirts of Bicester to uni but without these girls she wouldn't have survived, she was so lucky that even after Uni they all moved locally, Char in Coventry, Sophia in the countryside outside Leicester and Hanna and Amy still sharing a flat in Birmingham. She had so many shared experiences with them, and she was lucky she could share more.

However what was eating her up the most was the fact she couldn't share everything. She couldn't dream of telling them about Mason, not yet, not until she knew it was something. She knew they wouldn't say anything to anyone but at the same time she had this uneasy feeling that it could still all go wrong.

She wanted to scream from the rooftop that she was actually fucking a premier league footballer, but not only that but he was taking her out on a date in a couple of days and that she might possibly be falling for him.

She wanted everyone to know but it all felt so fragile and she didn't want to break something before it even started.

It had been a lot harder this time around with the girls though, with the Euro's hype and the squad being announced in a couple of days it was almost all the girls could talk about.

"I hope Grealish is picked" said Amy with a smirk as she sips on her second cocktail in the beachside bar "I mean I know nothing about football but I do know a hot lad when I see one and he is hot" the girls laugh as Sophia shakes her head.

"Honestly when we were watching that friendly the other week" said Hanna pointing towards Amy "we literally were just picking out who would get a shag" Sophia spits out her drink as she laughs with her friends.

"Seriously girls?" Sophia questions while trying to contain her laughter.

"You two have your minds in the gutter" said Char shaking her head "if anything I like Harry Kane, he looks like the kind of young man you could bring home to meet your dad"

Sophia hears Amy snigger under her breath before she speaks "I'd let Chilwell bring me home and I'd happily call him daddy"

Sophia's mouth drops opens as a loud roar of laughter erupts amongst the girls as the rest of the people bar turn to look at them.

"Amy!!" said Char with a shocked look on her face, trying to stop herself from laughing.

"What?" she replies chuckling "we were all thinking it, I'd also give it to Phil Foden, don't know why but I would and there was a couple of others" she looks towards Hanna.

"We said Calvert-Lewin could ruin us" Hanna said as Sophia tries to calm down her laughter "oh and Mason Mount, he looks like such a good boy but I bet he's proper dirty"

The girls laugh as Sophia feels her cheeks flush more, she could give them first hand accounts of how truly dirty he is but she won't. It's just a very surreal feeling, in uni it was always the other girls who got the guys that Sophia would be jealous off, but now it was the other way round and she can't even say anything.

Hopefully it won't be too long till she can, she would love to introduce him to her friends, but maybe she needs to warn him of them before she throws him into the pack of wolves.

It was late in the evening when her phone rung, the girls had headed out for dinner and then stayed out for drinks, she was on her way back from the toilet when her phone flashed up with his name and she ducked herself outside to take the call.

"Hey" she said as the music from inside finally felt like a dull noise in the background.

"Hey beautiful" Mason slurred slightly on the phone as she laughed to herself. She knew Mason was at Ben's tonight, they had spoken every night since they had decided to actually go on a date.

Ben was having some almost end of season BBQ and Mason had told her all about it, who was going to be there and that he might not be able to answer his texts, so it was a surprise when he had called.

"Mase aren't you supposed to be enjoying your night?" she asked smiling down the phone, although he couldn't see her.

"Yeah I am, I just needed to hear your voice" he replied back, sounding sad as he thought how he had gotten so used to speaking with her, that even in a room full of all of his friends he had wanted to only speak with her.

"Awwh you are too cute" she smirked back, knowing he was slightly drunk "well it's not long now" she reminded him.

"I cant wait to see you soon" he said almost instantly as he thought about how it was only the day after tomorrow that he would get to see her "its been too long, I've really missed you baby" he admitted.

"I've missed you too Mase" she admitted, she really had. However much fun she was having with the girls her mind kept flashing to the fact that she would be seeing him shortly.

She had told the girls she needed to drive down as she had some work stuff to do in London on the way back up. However it wasn't really work stuff, she was going to Mason's before going home and he was taking her out on a date, a proper date, and she couldn't wait.

"I gotta go okay" Mason's voice changed as she heard someone shout in the background "message you later" he said.

"Speak later" she replied before the line went dead. She went back in towards her friends smiling, she was on a countdown now, and soon enough she would be back with him.
