Goombario's Log Day 57: We finally entered the Crystal Palace for the first time, and man is it trippy. The ice reflections are in and of themselves illusions and we keep finding more of these Duplighosts everywhere. These things must be what were impersonating us with Lester and Watt eariler. But why?
Kooper's Log Day 52: I'm actually kind of salty right now. The same Duplighost trick got pulled on Bombette and Mario bonked all the correct ones and not Bombette. Does the man have some vendetta against me or something?
Bombette's Log Day 51: Man, it is weird seeing yourself in battle for the first time. Goombario even got to tattle the imposter me. He even said I was cute. Aw. I know I keep saying this, but now more than ever I feel great I went along with these guys from the start. I might not be the strongest, but I've got the fiery spark.
Parakarry's Log Day 46: Brr... So, cold in here. Who could live in a frigid place like this? Apparantly this guy called the Crystal King is living here guarding the final Star Spirit. Let's just take him out before I freeze to death.
Bow's Log Day 35: Honestly, who are these Duplighost guys? They're no Boos I'll tell you that much. But being able to transform into anyone they look at is so fascinating. So I guess I'll have to show those ghosts who's the real queen of this palace.
Watt's Log Day 25: What's going on here? Why are people being mean to me? And why are my friends saying this stuff to me?
Captain Sushie's Log Day 19: So I give the little lad an eyepatch to help his wound heal, and he calls me grouchy. Though, he did also call me intimidating as well. In which case, I can't deny I was a real terror on the seas in my youth.
Lakilester's Log Day 8: It is, really true? Am I really that bad of a party member? My late arrival being paired with lackluster attacks outclassed by everyone else, maybe they're right about me. Maybe I am completely useless....
inside the Crystal Palace
Lester: staring at his journal, looks over at Watt No. This isn't the time to be moody. I need to talk to Watt about what happened with her. flies over to her
Watt: floating in silence
Lester: taps on the ice Hey. You, got a minute?
Watt: L-Lester?! I, didn't see you there.
Lester: I, I justed wanted to sit down and talk with you. Mainly about what happened back in Shiver City.
Watt: Um, okay.
both sit down and lean against the ice wall
Lester: You know the Bow you saw in Shiver City was just a Duplighost now, right?
Watt: Yeah, I know now.
Lester: The same one that appeared as Goombario to me back in Merle's Village. So you know what they said was 'their' opinion. Not our partners opinions.
Watt: ... I mean. They weren't, completely wrong.
Lester: What do you mean?
Watt: When you guys look at me, what do you see? A friend? An ally? Or just some tool used for malicious affairs? I was captured by the Shy Guys and was forced into a lamp to be used by that Big Lantern Ghost. Just being trapped in that lamp for so long felt awful. I was basically forced to be used as a tool, and nothing else. Maybe that's why my character is so lacking. I wish I could have your personality, Lester. You're so cool with how you talk and interact with the others. I wish I was you.
Lester: ... Look, I know I came over here to cheer you up after what happened, but to be honest. I'm not someone you should look towards for being cool. It's a facade I created to make myself think I'm cool, but in reality, I'm not. You see, growing up, I was always bullied by the other Lakitus. One Lakitu in particular by the name of Flight was especially harsh with me. Hell, he nearly tried to kill me by knocking me off my cloud during a race hundreds of feet in the sky and I only survived by landing in a mail bag. As it turns out, this mail bag was being used by Karry's dad and I woke up inside their house. That's when I met Karry and we eventually became friends. Karry might not have been a great talker to others, but he made up for it in pure strength. I learned that day that mailmen are some of the scariest being around. Don't mess around with mailmen. And, it was thanks to Karry that I grew the courage to be more vocal and developed the personality I have today. But in reality, it was only meant to hide how weak I truly was. I can't fight for shell and I know it. Honestly, I wish I was as strong as you. sighs Instead I'm just deadweight to you guys.
Watt: ... Wow.
both sit in silence for a couple seconds
Watt: So, if you lack in strength, and I lack in character, why don't we, tutor each other?
Lester: Huh?
Watt: I know you said your coolness is fake, but it makes you and others happy right?
Lester: I mean, yeah. They do love my upbeat attitude and all.
Watt: So you can teach me how to be cool and grow my personality, and I could help you become physically stronger. I can charge Mario up to do more damage, why not do the same for you?
Lester: That's, actually not a bad idea. I like it. Then it's settled. I'll teach how to be as fly as me, and you can help me unlock my full potential.
Watt: Deal.
Lester: Separate we might be weak, but together we will find the strength and character we seek!
Watt: Together we can show the world what we can do. You are next to me and I'm next to you. Pushing on through until the battles won!
Lester: No ones gonna get nothing to us. Into each other we put our trust. Standing united, after the fight!
both high-five each other
