I don't mind where you come from
As long as you come to me
But I don't like illusions
I can't see them clearlyAugust 18th, 1992
There were no words for how my head felt at this very moment. Voices int the distance talking amongst themselves woke me up from my weak slumber. I dared to open my eyes and take a look around me carefully, the first thing that stood out to me was that light was now coming in from the window and we were no longer moving. We must've made it to San Francisco. Next thing I needed to find out was what time it was, surprised that no one from the other band had come looking for me, especially Jay. Sitting up, I looked down and saw that had used Grady as a pillow once again. Smiling to myself at the Deja vu but also double checking for any drool, none.
My head was spinning which made me wonder in how much I had to drink last night. Trying to think back on it when I quickly discovered that I couldn't remember anything from last night. Groaning to myself, I made my way towards the front of the bus where the voices originated from. Rita was standing in the kitchen, looking like a train wreck while she attempted to make coffee for everyone. Bless her heart since she was doing her contribution to help the cause.
Didn't take long to notice that the voices that woke me up belonged to both Bobby and Rex, who I should mention did not look at all hungover like the ones who were slowly coming to. Taking the empty seat next to Bobby, I watched them trying to get Bobby's camera to connect to the tv through a cord. Dropping my chin into my palm, "what are you two doing?" I dared to even ask. What was on this video tape anyways? Bobby with a smile, looked at me, "we wanted to try and see what was captured last night." Knotting my brows together, "you recorded last night? Hmm, this may help me to remember all that happened," trying to look at the glass half full.
Few minutes passed and more people began to move around the moment the smell of coffee hit the air, some looked haggard than the one before them. Glad to see I wasn't the only one struggling. I felt a nudge next to me when I saw Phil holding a cup out to me, I eyed the cup and then back at the singer, "is it poisoned?" Phil took the cup and brought it to his own lips for a quick sip before handing it back in my direction. I laughed but accepted it none the less, thanking him before he took the seat. We both sat and watched Rex and Bobby struggle for a while with the camera when I leaned in towards Phil, "I see you guys have upgraded since the RV days," throwing a job regarding their living situations. Phil caught the humor and started to chuckle, "you noticed," he sent a wink in my direction and took a sip from his coffee mug.
Didn't take long for Tweedle D and Tweedle Dumb to finally get the video to pop up onto the common area TV for all to see, music blasted and faces soon appeared. It was simple video of everyone sitting around eating the food Vinnie made and then shots were handed out. Those who were up and moving around were now more awake and stood watching the clip from last night. Some giving off faces of the poor decisions they made that were caught on film. The video then jumped over to a group of us shot gunning beers, causing me to laugh when Bobby captured the face I made when I finished my beer. Eyes were closed when I stuck my tongue out at the camera. The room soon was filled with laughter.
I continued to watch when I something caught my attention, the whole night Darrell and I were pretty much attached at the hip, it was like seeing a glimpse of the past. Darrell at times stood behind me, arms around my mid while we conversated with those around us. We didn't pay any attention to what naturally came from us, I guess it felt right. If you didn't know any better, you would assume by this that we were an actual couple. That was far from the truth though. I was dating Jay, and this was starting to make me uncomfortable.
