Phil eventually convinced me to drive the damn RV down to the station where authorities had taken our guitarist and drummer. During the drive we were trying to run different ways in how we were going to break this to Jeffery. From how things were looking, we were not making our next show, and someone had to break that to him. I voted Phil since he was the ringleader of this group.
Piling out of the RV the moment the shit boat was parked; we made our way inside the station to require about our friends. There was a woman who was sitting behind a desk as she aimlessly typed up paperwork. Phil and I made the other sit down and wait while we walked over to the desk, at first, she didn't notice us but looked up once Phil had cleared his throat. Either this woman was having a bad day, or she hated her job, "Can I help you?" even her voice sounded like it lacked life. Phil stood straight, "Uh, yes we are here to ask about our friends who were taken here earlier," he was scanning the desk to see if he could catch any information on either Abbott brothers. The woman sighed, "Names?" looking down to look through a stack of papers that sat off to the side. Without missing a beat, Phil felt like right now was the right time to throw sarcasm, "Yes, Cowboys from hell."
The woman raised an eyebrow at my idiot friend, seeing that he was going to be difficult. Pushing Phil to the side, I figure I might as well take over from here. "Sorry for my dumb ass friend, he suffers from turrets. The names are Vinnie and Darrell Abbott," apologizing while I watched her go through the stack of papers once again. Turned out that Vinnie and Darrell both were held in their holding cells to help them sober up but needed to be bailed out. The officers who had brought the two in had decided to not slap them with any charges since there were no illegal drugs found inside the RV at the time. That was good news.
Jeffery soon showed up after Phil had called him using the station's phone. I wish I could say he wasn't upset but then that wouldn't be very Jeffery of him, now would it? The moment he had walked through the doors and saw me sitting among the guys, he shot daggers but chose to keep his mouth closed. Instead, Jeffery was able to convince the release of both brothers without having to pay too much for bail. Once Vinnie and Darrell walked through the back doors and into the lobby, the overwhelming feeling of worry held melted away as relief came over me. Instinctively I rushed over and wrapped my arms around Darrell's mid, catching him off guard at first but then his arms came down and held me close.
I had glanced over and saw Jeffery standing with his brows knotted while he stared at Darrell and me. Self-consciously I regrettably pulled away from the hug and allowed everyone else to greet him. "Well, I am glad to see you two idiots sober, mind explaining to me why this even happened?" Jeffery demanded, both hands on his hips, looking like a disappointed parent who was scolding their child. No one said a word. Realistically there was nothing to say that could excuse what had happened. This was us taking the full responsibility of our actions. Jeffery waited but when he noticed we weren't going to say a word, he started nodding his head and trying to remain calm.
