Dragonstone 126 AC

It was the end of the harvest cycle, which meant snow reigned down upon the island. It was very rare for the snow to last because of the heat of the island. So, we were soaking up what little of the snow we could.

I was on a walk with Baela who was the only other girl my age around. Rhaena had gone to be a ward of Driftmark. We were conversing while walking when we came upon Meagor training. He was more lenient on garurding me on the isle saying there were less threats. I didn't mind though, I do wish I could be able to defend myself if he wasn't around.

I told Baela I wanted to stay around, and she was going to head back to the castle for warmth. As I watched Meagor train I started to acknowledge his weakness of his left foot. He didn't put much weight on it when he strikes. I secretly got a wooden sword and walked behind him, swiping his left foot so he'd fall on the ground. I knew it wouldn't hurt him badly.

As he lay on the ground he grunts profanities at the sky. He gets up and looks at me. "What in the hells Syra!" He booms.

"You're favoring your left foot. You should work on that." I stated.

"Yeah and what of swordplay do you know? Huh?" He was pretty frustrated that I noticed he's weak point.

"I don't know anything. Which makes that weak spot even weaker."

"Do you want to learn?" He offered.

I don't know how to respond to this. Of course I'd want to learn, but mother would never allow. "My mother wouldn't let me."I voiced.

"I would." I hear from the other side of the training yard. "And as your father I can allow you to." Daemon was having a grand time with letting Syra do as she pleases. He found that she didn't ask for much so why not let her? At dinner if she'd want only sweets, he'd allow it. Even with Rhaenyra saying she needed real food.

He had missed so much of her childhood he wasn't going to let anything slip away. And he definitely wasn't going to make her hate him. "I would be honored to teach you myself, but I believe it would pull you two closer to train together. What do you say, ñuha perzys?"My flame.

"It would be amazing, kiba."Father.

Daemon was glad I'd fully learned high Valyrian. He said it had brought us closer together. I didn't have any training clothes to change into, so we started while I was in a dress. It was a white dress with fur adorning the collar. Since it was snowing I wore a cloak which I discarded for it would only weigh me down and get in the way.

Thankfully I was wear boots instead of flats or heels, so I had more traction. It would prevent me from slipping so often. Which I'm sure I will be doing a lot of. I expected to be handed a wooden sword but when Meagor returned he had a thin lightweight sword. With a beautiful hilt adorned with gems.

"Daemon had this made for you as an early nameday gift. Figured you'd best learn with it." Meagor presented it to me and i excitedly took it. "Be careful with it."

"I'll be extremely careful, brother." I slightly froze at the word that came out. I didn't know if he thought of me as a sister yet. But when I looked up and he had a smile on his face I knew I hadn't overstepped. We began training with the basics, how to grip the hilt, what stance to begin in, how to swing with precision.

We weren't focusing on damage at the moment. Just perfecting the precision and cleanest of my stance and swing. Once we had that down he brought me to a dummy and showed me where to hit. I almost always hit the mark he told me to, only being a little bit off when I missed.

We decided it was enough training for the day as it was starting to get dark and colder. When I got to my chambers to change for supper I found a note on my vanity table. It had the Targaryen crest melted on by green wax. It could only be two people. The queen Alicent or Aemond. I'd be excited with either but I yearned to hear from Aemond.

I ripped off the wax seal carefully, and when I unrolled it I recognized the writing. It was Aemond. He had finally written to me. It had been almost two fortnights since my arrival on Dragonstone. I had thought he was mad at me for leaving and wouldn't write to me unless I wrote first. But I was so busy settling in I hadn't had the time to do so. I sat down, completely forgetting about supper and read the letter.

Dearest Syra,

It's been a while since you left and my days have become mundane. I train with Cole and ride Vhagar. But nothing else catches my attention enough to warrant my interest. I go on daily walks of the garden, it reminds me of you. It smells like you.

My 16th nameday is upon the next moon cycle. I wish we could celebrate together. Aegon has told me he has quite the present, but I don't believe him. He is probably planning some trick since you're gone now and I'm his only target. Honestly I'm tired of his shit. Pardon my language, but he gets on my every nerve. He is always drunk, stalking the ladies of court. It's barbaric, he ought to find his head or else he may lose it.

I miss you dearly and hope to see you soon. Perhaps you could visit for our namedays. If your family would allow it. Or more specifically your father. Rumor around court is that you're Daemon Targaryen's daughter. You definitely look like him and act in someways like him. I hope you find a father in him even if he isn't your real one. Anyways I'll leave you with this. Don't want to bore you with more words

All my love,
Aemond Targaryen
