Dragonstone, 130 AC
I never imagined getting to go back to Kings landing, it felt like a dream. A farce made up by my own mind, to make myself feel better and not saddened by the fact I hadn't spoken to Aemond in months, almost a year. I still don't understand what happened to make him cut ties with me.
Did I say something in past letters to annoy him? Was I sending too many? I must find him once I arrive and pester him into revealing his thoughts on the matter. Another person I must see, Alicent, I miss her dearly. It feels like it's been longer since I've seen her than Aemond since she never wrote to me.
I understand why she hasn't but it hurt to know she wanted to but didn't. I started to get ready for our early departure, combing and braiding my hair, getting dressed in riding gear, very special gear might I add. It was red with dragon like scales on the fabric. I paired it with black leathers and boots made for riding. I knew it would be a short trip and the outfit wasn't exactly for my dragon.
This would be the first time Kings Landing has seen me in years, I needed to look the part and present myself as a princess. I braided my hair in four sections clasping them all together, leaving the bottom half of my hair wavy and the front pieces loose to frame my face. As I arrived to the front, half of my family had already arrived as well.
Daemon, Meagor, and Lucerys were present. Mother was off loading the babes onto the ship and riding with them and Jace has yet to arrive. As if on cue his steps echoed behind mine and we all took to our respective dragons. I was to ride Cannibal to Kings Landing. Mother didn't want me to but I needed to show him off to the masses, they all know of Starflame but I'm sure no one's made it known that I've claimed another.
This was the time to show him off. As I clipped myself in he was already taking off, I don't believe he's been to Kings Landing before so this would be and adventure for him, and he seemed quite eager. Starflame of course followed behind, I wouldn't leave him, plus he's grown quite massive and I wanted to show him off as well.
He's only a few years older than Vermax and is already twice his size. The ride was meek and boring and I still wasn't fully awake from the nights sleep I barely got. I yawned and Cannibal shifted to keep me awake. He never liked when I wasn't around or if I got tired. He wanted to make sure I was ready for anything, like war was right around the corner.
I stretched my arms and rubbed my eyes to wake myself up, the sun had risen which help keep me awake, but what really jump started my morning was seeing the red keep come into veiw. Starflame sped up as did Cannibal, as if sensing my excitement and having some themselves. To Starflame this was his home, and Cannibal loved new places.
It took us less time than the rest to arrive since they had picked up their pace tremendously. Starflame guided Cannibal to the dragonpit and landed by the keepers, Cannibal was more apprehensive and I had to speak soothing words to him to reassure his safety. Once he was calm I dismounted him. A squire was waiting with a single black mare.
"The queen assumed you'd arrive before the others and has sent me to retrieve you, princess." I nodded and made my way to the mare. It was the same one I'd ridden years ago, surprisingly it was still alive and well. I was sure nothing of my past would be here still but I was wrong. It was so much like before, I felt like a little girl again.
As I mounted the mare I noticed my family getting closer and approaching the pit, I turned and left before they arrived. If they knew I was going to see the Queen, everyone, especially Daemon, would object. I rode through all the roads quickly and once I arrived to the gates they opened immediately.
Standing there alone with her hands in front of her, looking regal as always, was the queen. I jumped off the horse and quickly made my way to her. When I arrived in front of her, she already had tears forming in her eyes. She tried to blink them away but it was no use, I too had tears but once they started falling I was rushed into an embrace.
I melted into her arms feeling like it was the first bit of love I'd had in years. Her hugs always felt different then others, like it was full of love and care. We parted after a few moments and she held onto my forearms, looking me over and smiling brightly.
"You look marvelous, my love. You're just as beautiful as I expected you." I smiled at that and hugged her once more.
"I missed you so much, your grace."
"Uh uh, what did we talk about when you were a child? It's Alicent, dear. No formality's when it's just us."
"Of course Ali" I saw her smile light up and knew she loved the nickname. She gestured for us to walk and we made our way to her chambers. We talked on the way and she told me of how kings landing has been in my time away.
She spent a little too long on Aemond, and how his sword work has been improving. She boasted of him for longer than anything else and then looked at me with an unknown smile. "You should go see him. He trains everyday around this time. Oh and do be nice, he didn't welcome you because I didn't tell him you were coming, wanted it to be a surprise."she giggled.
"Of course Alicent." I kept my response short and sweet, I did want to see Aemond but at the same time he's been ignoring me for months. How do I pick up where we left off if I don't know where that is? I made my way to the training yard trying to use my memory as a guide. It worked and I arrived without getting lost.
I didn't immediately see him but noticed a crowd forming, it must be him and ser criston training. I heard the sound of a wooden shield breaking and hastily made my way over. Criston's morning star had shattered Aemonds shield. He tossed the broken pieces away and immediately went on the offense. He was swift and light on his feet, but every swing he made had force and purpose.
He was so caught up in the fight he didn't notice me, but Criston did, he nodded his head as he was dodging swings from the prince. Finally he had made the wrong move and Aemond used that, flipping his sword to Criston's neck. I hadn't quite looked at him since arriving, but now that I do I'm stuck, I can't move or think straight.
He was tall, very tall and lean but muscular, he wore his eyepatch and it made him even more mysterious, and his jawline was straight and pointed. He was not the boy I left, but the man I'm returning to. Ser Criston said something but I couldn't hear it with the heartbeat in my ears.
I zoned back in when I heard Aemonds vioce, "I don't give a shit about tourney's, nephews have you come to train?"
He wasn't looking in my direction but further to my right, where my two brothers stand. Before either of them can answer the gates open, revealing Vaemomd and his men. Luke has a distraught look on his face and the two of them leave. I look back at Aemond whose scanning the crowd, maybe looking for me.
Right before he gets to me and I turn and dash. I know he saw the bright hair and red dress, he'd surely follow and that's what I was planning. I go into the halls and turn the opposite way of my brothers, I hear fast passes walking behind me and turn a corner stopping quickly.
As the footsteps turn the person runs into me, pushing me into the wall. It's Aemond, I knew it'd be but seeing him this close has me flustered a bit. He takes a step back and observed me, I look up at him with a confused look. Why is he staring at me like this, he looks my body up and down, "I see you like the gift?" He mutters.
"You would already know that, if you'd respond to any of my letters." I spit to him. He looks taken aback and slowly his smirk falls. Did he not think I would bring this up.
"I'm sorry, it was getting to be too much to always hear from you but never know when I would see you again." I suppose he was right, "but you're here now, and I'm beyond happy to see you." He smiles down at me and I weighed out whether to be mad or happy. I chose happy, This was the first time in six years I'm seeing my best friend, I'm not going to waste it being mad.
I suddenly jumped into his arms, he caught me easily and lifted me off the ground. I was giggling in his ear and he was spinning me lightly around. It felt like no time had passed since we last saw eachother, I was happy for the first time in a while and it was because of Aemond.
Omg they have been reunited and I'm so happy!! I don't even know how this chapter flowed out of my brain but I'm quite happy about it. I told y'all it would be ready by Tuesday but surprise!! It's here today lol anyways hope you like it😁
