So, what now?Deva asked herself as she crossed her arms over her chest, looking out at the small amount of people in the school library.
I hope things aren't awkward between me and Jake.
The other kiss they had was a planned kiss, it was a part of the lessons, but this one... it was certainly not.
She didn't know how to feel about it, because she was still technically dating Charles, and the rumors about Jake's ex-girlfriend being his girlfriend again were resurfacing like they did every few months.
Deva raised her eyebrows as she saw the most unexpected person walk through the door.
Charles...
He would never go to the library willingly.
She avoided his gaze as he made his way towards her with a smile.
"Hey Deva." He greeted as he sat across from her.
"Hey."
"Here. You left it at my place." He said softly as he placed her phone on the table.
"Thank you." She spoke quietly as she gave him a small smile.
"Did you get home well? I realized you left your phone when I called and it rang on the couch."
"Yeah, I did." She answered as she nodded her head.
"What are you doing right now?"
"Uh- just studying for chem." Deva stuttered slightly as she watched him stand up and sit at the seat next to hers.
"Oh, that sounds... pretty boring."
"It is."
"You know I-"
"Hey."
"Why are you always around?" Charles asked Jake with a shake of his head as he sat on the other side of Deva.
Jake shrugged as he pulled out his book from his backpack.
"Pure coincidence." He said under his breath as he reached for one of Deva's highlighters.
Deva couldn't even look at him after last night. She couldn't even force herself to say hi.
"Anyways, as I was saying. I'm not mad about last night." Charles said softly making Deva look at him and Jake to roll his eyes.
"Really?"
"Yeah. I know I was pushing myself on you, and I'm sorry. It's just that I have a hard time controlling impulses and you just have such an attractive gaze and I couldn't resist. Can we go on another date? I promise I won't do anything." He whispered as he placed his hand on hers that was on the table.
Deva slowly nodded her head as she looked at his hand engulfing hers.
Her gaze absentmindedly went to Jake's hand that was holding his book up.
She shook her head out of her thoughts and nodded more firmly this time.
"I-"
"I need your help with something Dev. Do you mind?" Jake suddenly interrupted as he reached for her wrist and stood up.
She looked at him in confusion but she still stood up with him.
"Sorry to take her away. It'll just be a second, I just need her help finding a book for...human anatomy class." Jake lied as he gave Charles a fake smile before pulling Deva with him through the immense shelves of books.
