Deva sat in class as she avoided everyone's eyes.

They were all staring at her for a reason that she still wasn't sure about.

She stared down at her coffee as she heard whispers around her, but none of them clear enough to make out.

"There's Charles." Someone whispered, making Deva turn her head to look, gasping a little at the sight.

Charles has a bandage around his arm, both of his eyes were swollen and he had a cut on his upper lip.

Deva watched Charles walk to his seat with his head down and looked away from him with a small shake of her head.

"Class, these are the sign-up sheets for the two-day class trip. If you're coming, sign up, if you're not, don't bother." The professor said in a bored tone as he came into the classroom.

"Charles!" Deva called out to him before he could leave the building, catching up to him with a jog. "Hey."

"Hey." He answered as he gave her a small smile, wincing at the pain on his lip.

"I need to talk to you."

"About what?"

"What happened?"

Charles stayed quiet for a bit, before shaking his head in almost disappointment.

"Jake was just... mad at me, for trying to beat him up in the library. You know, petty shit. That's what he does."

Deva only hummed as she looked down at the ground.

"So it was.. because of me."

"Yeah, because of you."

Deva blinked before letting out a small sigh, but she was caught by surprise when Charles softly gripped her waist and pulled her closer to him.

"What-"

"Deva, there's certain things that Jake does, that aren't very good. He's going to tell you all of these nice things to get you."

Deva felt like she's had this conversation before, but it was with opposite names.

All she did was hum as she nodded her head.

She felt tired already. She felt like everyone had been telling her how to feel and what to do for the longest time, and it was almost suffocating.

"Okay." She said breathily as she pushed his arm off of her waist. "Can you not do that?"

"Deva, why would you break up with me? I forgave you."

"I just don't like you, Charles." She said harshly without thinking making her eyes widen.

Some people heard her as they turned to look at them, making Charles look down at the ground for a second.

"Fine."

She turned around to walk to her next class, but she bumped into Iris, making her look at her eyes for less than a second.

They awkwardly moved around each other as they tried to avoid eye contact.

Deva closed her eyes tightly as she walked down the hallway in a hurried step.

Jake winced as he placed an ice pack against his eye and then his head.

He ran a hand through his hair and laid back against the couch, closing his eyes.
