Deva sighed as she moved the page to the one before it, noticing that she was reading without paying attention. She had forgotten what she had read. Again.
She felt someone sit next to her but she didn't look up as she already knew who it was.
"Hey Deva." Charles greeted as he placed a kiss on her head.
"Hey." She said quietly with a small smile his way, before looking at her book again.
"You haven't moved from the same page as yesterday." He chuckled as Deva let out a breathless laugh.
"Yeah, I can't focus lately. I'm not sure why." She said under her breath as she closed her book and turned towards him with a small shrug.
It had been a few weeks since she had said yes to being Charles girlfriend.
She knew he liked her but at the same time there were doubts in her head about her own standing when it comes to her feelings.
Charles placed an arm around Deva's shoulders and looked down at his phone, making her look away from him.
It annoyed her a little how he was always on his phone. They never truly had a proper conversation with actual substance.
He was fun when he wanted to be, but sometimes, most of the time, he was just not.
He only liked to sit around playing video games even when she was around. Sometimes it felt like she wasn't even there.
Charles would even invite his big group of friends even when it was supposed to be just them two.
Is this how a relationship is supposed to go?
Deva's eyes ran around the cafeteria in boredom, and her eyes spotted the person she did not want to see.
Jake sat at his usual table, with his hands steadily typing on his computer. He seemed so focused that he didn't notice the hands that wrapped around his shoulders.
Iris placed a kiss on his cheek and Jake looked at her with a small smirk, pulling her to sit next to him.
Deva looked away as she took a sip of her drink.
For some reason, there wasn't much in her thoughts anymore about Jake and Iris. She had somehow become used to it.
They were together all of the time and they were always around each other whenever they could.
If Iris wasn't clinging onto Jake's arm at least 95% of the day, it is not an average day.
Jake hadn't talked to her since that day in his apartment, and Deva's stubborn self, made no attempts to contact him either.
They would see each other in class, meet eyes for less than a second and completely ignore each other as if their lives had gone back to how they were a few months ago.

She retried to read her book, this time in the basement floor of the library, at nearly 2 in the morning.
She had gotten further ahead in the book than she had in the morning which she was quite proud of, but her eyes that refused to close earlier were still as tired as ever.
Deva heard a sound from a few feet away from her, seeing Jake picking up a book from the floor.
She looked away from him and back towards her book, feeling herself frown at his presence.
"You're here."
Deva was surprised to hear him speak and looked up at him, who sat down a few feet away from her on the other couch.
