"Hey!"

Jake didn't look up from his phone as Deva placed her hands on his shoulders, trying to scare him.

"Hello?..." She sang as she waved her hand in front of his face. She furrowed her eyebrows as he didn't respond. "Are you ignoring me Jake?"

"Maybe."

"Is it because I didn't go last night?"

"No." He blatantly lied as he shook his head. "It's not like I had to work on that essay all by myself when you were supposed to help me."

"I'm sorry. Charles came over and I didn't know how to tell him to leave." She said softly as she still stood behind the bench, leaning her head to peak over his shoulder.

Jake turned his head to meet her eyes, their faces being only inches apart.

She didn't turn away from him as she continued as normal as always.

There was a small frown on her lips making her seem a lot cuter to Jake.

He felt his heart swell at just the sight of her, making him turn his head away.

"Snap out of it." He told himself, making Deva furrow her eyebrows.

"What?"

"Nothing... Is it that you didn't know how to turn him away or that you didn't want to turn him away?"

She only tilted her head slightly in confusion making him shake his head.

"Nevermind Deva." He spoke quietly as she walked around the bench to sit next to him.

"I thought your essay was due next week though. We can work on it tonight." She suggested nicely as he finally looked at her directly for longer than a second.

"Dev, I already finished it."

"Oh." She said quietly as she bit her lip.

"How was your date?"

"It was good. We watched a movie together and that's pretty much it."

"Did he kiss you?"

"Isn't that private?" She felt her cheeks burn as Jake intensely watched her without answering her. "Yes. He did."

Jake hummed as he continued watching her.

"You know, you didn't bring the excuse note for last night."

"We had...lessons? I thought it was just your essay?" She almost chuckled at the words used and he nodded his head.

"We could do them tonight."

Deva hesitated a little before she nodded her head.

"Basement."

"Huh?"

"We're meeting in the basement this time."

"Okay."

The elevator doors opened and Deva made her way out into the basement floor of the library.

The quiet and the dim lights made it so much scarier to be down there.

It was there for students just like any other floor, it's just that not many students know it even exists.

Most of the things in the basement floor are old artifacts and things like town records that nobody really looks at, so not even the staff goes down there.

In the emptiness of the basement, it wasn't hard to find Jake.

He sat on one of the couches towards the back as he propped his feet up on the table in front of him.
