Emrie

The weekend had finally arrived, and I couldn't be happier.

Mainly because I couldn't get the things they did to me out of my head, and seeing them didn't help. They ran like an endless loop, and it bothered me that only they could handle it. But I wouldn't go to my teachers for help on that matter.

Sila and Jun have also been quiet and distant since the office scene. They wouldn't say a word to us unless necessary.

Even the after-school summons have ceased. I shouldn't be complaining, but I felt this sense of loneliness without them.

Phara hasn't addressed the subject, but I know she wants to.

I also ran into Daniel more times than I would like this week. Each time he asked me about the party. And he would fidget as he impatiently waited for my answer about a party I just had to attend. Fortunately, Rebecca was there each time.

I would be so happy to "coincidentally" see her face after he showed up.

Also, it has been a week since Tanya has been with my sister, and she's not a problem. Zhana explained she was our bodyguard, but I could see us getting close to her.

She and Zhana were already getting along as if they had known each other their whole lives.

I lay on my bed, staring at the ceiling as my thoughts roamed, as this was the only quiet time I had. But even that didn't last long.

A knock on the door brought me out of my thoughts. I look up at my mother, leaning on the door frame.

"Are you ready to go," she asked, sitting beside me on the bed.

"A little nervous, but I'll be okay," I said.

I grabbed my bag and walked towards the door.

"Now, Emrie, remember not to take that necklace off," she said, resting her hands on my shoulders.

After I had come home from Zhana's house Monday, my parents gave me a sapphire necklace and warned me of it being a family heirloom and to never take it off.

What I don't understand is why I received it. If it's a marriage heirloom, Zhana should receive it since she's the eldest. Plus, she's married now.

But since I received this necklace, I have been feeling numb and exhausted, but maybe it's all in my head. I stepped out of the house and immediately felt the cold wind lightly brush my cheeks. The whispers of the wind brushed past my ears, carrying the sounds of nature with them.

I looked up from the ground and was met with the sharp hazel eyes that belonged to my aunt Malina. I could feel my smile instantly drop at her stern look. "Remember, this is training and not a camping trip," she coldly stated as she took my bag.

Unfortunately, because of that, it's just me and her, not Phara.

While they talked, I did my best not to laugh at Malina's cold front she put on. Maybe I should leave.

I walked to the car and listened as the dead leaves crunched under my boots.

I got in, buckled up, and waited for Malina to get in. She stood still as she received words from my mother.

Whatever mother said to her made Malina's face pale. She slowly nodded her head and walked to the car. With her hands in her pockets, she lightly kicked a rock in her path.

Probably thinking about something heavy.

I watched as she got in and buckled up as well. Her facial expression slowly turned from a stern one to a soft expression.
