Phara

I was worried for Emrie. She hadn't returned by the time I left. When we heard a scream, it seemed Malina couldn't take it and locked herself in her room. Shortly after, Zhana picked me up for school.

I was reluctant, of course, but Zhana was a resilient opponent.

I was sitting in Sila's class, and she looked confused when she saw it was just me, and it wouldn't be the last. It was only third period, so I had four more classes without Emrie.

When the bell rang, Sila looked like she wanted to say something but didn't. Probably from the way I looked. Since I got no sleep the last few nights, I looked like shit, and I was trying my best to stay awake right now.

Since it was lunch, every student swarmed out of the classroom while I stayed in my seat with my head down. Like always, I wasn't hungry.

I heard the sound of heels getting closer until they stopped and went the opposite way. Finally gathering the strength to stand, I grabbed my bag and left the classroom. "Look who finally left the classroom," I heard beside me.

Looking to my right, I spotted Emrie leaning on the wall.

Why is she here? She looks like shit. Who cares? She's alive.

I gasped and was about to hug her when an arm wrapped around me. "Please do not hug her right now. She's in a lot of pain," a voice whispered.

I turned my head to see a black-haired boy holding me. Who is this, and why is he touching me?

"Who are you," I asked, removing his arm.

"My name is Sebastian," he proudly said, making Emrie chuckle. "Shouldn't you all be going to lunch," we heard an angry voice behind us. I finally moved away from Sebastian and over to Emrie.

Sila had a heated glare directed at poor Sebastian.

That was until she looked at Emrie and me. More likely Emrie. Her facial expression turned into a concerned one.

"What happened to you," she asked, gently grabbing Emrie's face. Sebastian placed a hand on her shoulder. "It's a family matter," he started, but Sila's glare immediately shut him up.

"In my office now," she demanded.

"Not you," she said when Sebastian started walking. "He comes," Emrie said as she wrapped her arm around him for support. In response, he picked her up and sat her in a chair, which Sila didn't like, but we were at school. What could she do?

Who exactly is Sebastian?

I've never seen before or heard of him before. So far as I know, the Quazas only had daughters. He wasn't old enough to be someone's husband either. Wait, were they betrothed? From looking at the two interact with each other, you would think that.

Sebastian handled her with the utmost care to not cause any pain. Once again, Sila didn't like that. Sila sat in her chair and folded her arms as she leaned back.

"Who are you to Emrie," he asked once he got Emrie situated. Before Sila could answer, the door swung open, and in walked Jun. Emrie gently touched Sebastian and replied," None of your concern."

"What's going on," Jun asked as she stared at the hand on Esmie and its owner. Any anger she had once she walked in immediately washed away once she saw the state Emrie was in.

Emrie has bruises on her face and a handprint around her neck.

Emrie looked exhausted and in a lot of pain. I couldn't see any other bruises due to her clothes, but I'm sure she had more.

"Can you heal her," Sila asked as Jun examined Emrie from afar. The more she examined Emrie, the angrier she got.

We all could feel it, especially Sebastian, it seemed.

Wait, heal her?

"Of course, I can," she growled at Sila. Instead of responding, Sila just kissed her teeth.

Well, there seems to be some other tension in the area.

"I'm sorry, this isn't the time to be arguing. Did you say you can heal her," I asked.

Jun sighed and ran a hand threw her hair. "Yes, I can heal her, but it involves a heated kiss, and it'll be as painful as it was when you received the wounds," she said while whispering the last part.

When the words slipped Jun's lips, Emrie visibly paled.

"Don't worry, it won't be painful for you," Jun assured her, removing a hair tie from her wrist. "Are you okay with this," Sebastian asked as he knelt in front of her.

Emrie looked into Jun's eyes and slowly nodded. "I'm okay with this," she said barely above a whisper, but we all heard.

Jun pulled her hair into a ponytail and sighed.

Emrie directed her eyes to me, and I could see the fear that resided in them, but she tried her best to hide it. "Phara, could you please take Sebastian to the cafeteria," she asked.

I looked around the room to see all eyes on me. I didn't want to leave Emrie by herself in here. "I'll go too," Sila said as she stood up.

Sila had walked past me with an expression I had never seen her with or could make out. She left without another word being said.

"Please, Phara," Emrie begged. Sebastian looked excited at the mention of food but didn't want to leave her side either.

I slowly nodded and looked at Jun, who had a blank stare the whole time.

"Come on, Sebastian," I said. He gently shook his head and gripped the chair Emrie sat in. "Sebastian," Emrie firmly said. He looked at her and then at me. He slowly nodded his head and followed me out of the office.

Even though I am worried about Emrie, I was confused about what was happening with Sila and Jun.

Walking to the cafeteria, I asked Sebastian questions to get to know him better.

"So, where are you from," I asked.

"I don't know, I awoke in the middle of the forest, and that's all I remember," he said.

"What do you mean," I asked, speeding up after checking the time.

"I'm just playing. I'm from California," he chuckled.

"How do you know, Emrie," I asked.

"Second cousin from her father's side," he immediately responded as if he had been practicing these answers.

I couldn't do anything but take his word. I have never met anyone from her dad's side of the family. Other than Zhana, meeting Malina was the first time I had met anyone from their mother's side.

"Oh, okay," I said, relieved at his answer. We finally made it to the cafeteria, and it was packed. Usually, it would be almost empty as kids left to hang out outside.

Before I took another step, Daniel stepped in front of me. "Where's Emrie," he frantically asked while scratching his arm. What's wrong with him?

When he reached out to grab me, Sebastian stepped before me and folded his arms. "Why do you want to know," he asked, looking down at Daniel.

"That's none of your business," Daniel snapped and looked up. I don't know Sebastian's facial expression, but it made Daniel cower.

"Whatever, man," Daniel said and left. I'm glad Sebastian was here because Daniel is a hassle.

"Thank you," I said. He nodded his head but kept his eyes on Daniel.

"Well, let's get you some food, shall we?"
