When Phara woke up, she was trapped between Sila and Jun, and her bladder was full. She tried to move their arms, but they didn't budge. She squirmed, attempting to free herself. The constant movement eventually woke Sila. "What are you doing," her groggy voice whispered.
"I have to use the bathroom."
Sila wondered why she didn't wake them up instead of squirming about. She was sure to wake someone up with all that movement.
"Alright."
Sila stood with Phara wrapped around her and walked to the bathroom.
Phara laid her head on Sila's as she walked. She felt at ease whenever they held. "Here you are," Sila placed her down.
"Let me know when you're done, okay?" Sila made her way to the door when Phara spoke. "Don't go, please." This request shocked Sila. Since being here, Phara never spoke about what she wanted and let the tide run over her.
"Are you scared, Flame," Sila chuckled as she sat down. No, she wasn't scared, and Sila knew this. Phara no longer wanted to be left alone, so Sila and Jun would talk outside the bathroom, letting her know they were there. But it was only Sila right now.
"No, I'm not scared."
"I'll close to give you privacy, then."
"No peeking."
"I won't."
"Okay."
Sila was overwhelmed by her flame's cuteness and wanted nothing more than to pinch her checks.
Sila closed her eyes as Phara went away with her business.
"Finished," Phara mumbled.
Sila opened her eyes to see she had been tricked and released a hearty laugh. "No, you're not."
Her laugh was so contagious to Phara that she joined in. "Okay, I'm done for real," Phara said, lifting her pants. Sila didn't open her eyes until she heard the water run from the sink. "Here," Sila handed her paper towels.
"Thank you."
Sila picked Phara up and left the bathroom. Though she enjoyed them carrying her, Phara figured she was heavy. At least, to herself, she was. "Am I not heavy to you," she asked from the crook of Sila's neck.
"Not in the slightest, you're lighter than a feather. Makes me wonder about your diet," Sila confessed.
Sila was worried about her diet, and so was Jun. During any mealtime, Phara barely touched her as if she was repulsed by it. She would even fill herself with liquids, and what space was left was for food.
Sila tried to get her to eat a plate of food but settled for half when Phara couldn't finish more.
Jun was happy even if she ate junk food, but Phara barely did.
"Are you hungry," Sila asked before they passed the kitchen. "No, just sleepy."
Sila sighed, passed the kitchen, and walked into the room beside it.
"Where did you go," Jun asked. She was wide awake now and didn't think she would go back to sleep any time soon. "Bathroom."
Sila sat Phara on the bed, and she crawled to the middle and went back to sleep. "Did you talk to yourself or something," Jun asked. "No, she asked me to stay inside," Sila yawned and crawled onto the bed.
No words were exchanged as they both drifted into their thoughts.
"Hey," Jun caught Sila's attention, and she hummed. "It's nearing graduation. Do you think Rebecca told them?"
"Probably not," Sila sighed. She wondered how they would feel when Rebecca did tell them now that they'd grown close. How would Malina react to it? How would Esmie react?
"Are you upset," Sila sat on her elbows. She and Jun had a tough love relationship. They practically talked in opposite most of the time. They could be at each other's necks all day, but at the end of the day, she was her flame, and Sila cared about her flames.
"I'll be fine," Jun sighed and covered herself.
"Jun."
"I said I'll be fine, Sila," Jun cut Sila off.
Sila knew the opposite was true, but if Jun didn't want to talk about it, she wouldn't push it.
Both Jun and Sila cuddled up to Phara and went to sleep. Well, Jun tried to.
When morning came, Zhana burst into the house and ran to the room she last saw her sister in. "Esmie," she shouted, scaring the poor child. Esmie was getting dressed after a shower. She was still putting her shirt over her head when Zhana barged in.
"Zhana, what the hell," she hissed when she got the shirt unstuck. Zhana would let Esmie curse at her all day if it meant she would hear her voice. "I'm so glad you're awake," Zhana hugged Esmie.
"How did you know to call me Esmie," she asked when Zhana finally released her. "Malina called when you woke up."
"She told me everything," Zhana grimaced. When Malina called, she told Zhana of Esmie's sudden name change. Zhana wanted to know why, and Malina had nothing to hide from her niece, so she told her. In-person, of course.
Zhana was disgusted when she heard what her mother and grandmother did. How could you blame a child for what you did? She was only a result of your mistake. Her mother knew what was going to happen and did nothing. How disgusting the two were.
"By the way, I heard Akemi is no longer pregnant," Esmie quickly changed the subject. "Yeah, we named her Nemu," Zhana smiled with a distant look. Though the child wasn't hers, she would never know from the way Zhana would cherish her.
"She's going to have three parents," Esmie laughed. Zhana looked at her from the corner of her eyes and shook her head. "Look who's talking."
Another thing Malina told her. Zhana and Malina told each other everything since they were the same age and grew up together. They only had each other, and when Malina started showing, Zhana had no one.
"Malina said you don't have to return to school right away. What are you going to do?"
Esmie now knew she was a hybrid witch, like Malina, and wanted to get to know her witches. "I'm going to take a week off." "What about Sebastian," Zhana asked.
At the sound of his name, Sebastian popped his head up from the corner he was curled in. He was still disappointed in himself for letting Phara get taken right before him, but Phara continued to reassure him. Sebastian felt he didn't deserve her kindness but a punishment instead.
"He's going to stay with me and train," Esmie said, and he laid his head back down.
Zhana and Emsie stayed in the room talking for hours before Zhana left for the hospital.
"See you guys later," Zhana said and was out the door.
Jun looked at the time and nudged Sila.
"It's about time we left, too," Jun stood with Sila. "Wait, you're leaving," Esmie tilted her head a little, mimicking something Jun did.
She had just woken up, and they were leaving already.
"Yeah, we have to return to work, unlike someone who's taking a week off," Jun said and kissed her head. Sila kissed her head, and they turned to do the same to Phara before they left.
"Do you have to go, too," Phara turned to Malina and Rebecca. "I get to take a week off with you guys," Rebecca grinned. "I'll be here, too," Malina spoke up. She could work remotely since Ms. Watson was her face.
"Can we sleep with you then," Rebecca batted her eyelashes. "You can sleep outside." Malina smiled and left.
"That's not fair," she shouted after Malina. Rebecca followed Malina as she spouted nonsense. Esmie and Phara shared a laugh, watching her chase the woman.
"Poor Rebecca."
