Emrie

It was the last class of the day, which was astronomy, and of course, Phara was with me. Phara and I have our whole schedule together, but I have ignored her all day. She had been trying to tell me not to stay after class, but I wasn't listening.

Yes, I'm still upset with her, but I know I can't force any information out of her. I'll just have to be patient.

We were learning about different black holes today, but I wasn't paying attention.

I was wondering what Ms. Volkov wanted to talk to me about. After all, this was her first time summoning me after class.

After a while, the bell rang, and the entire class, except Phara and me, rushed out. It's the end of the day, who wouldn't? After the last student left, Phara tried again to get me to leave but once again was unsuccessful.

"Phara, stop. Just go. I'll be at the car in a moment," I huffed and handed her the keys so she could get in, but she didn't budge. "No, I can't leave you. Please let me stay with you," she begged, then looked behind me. A hand was placed on my shoulder, sending a shiver down my spine. I immediately turned around to see Ms. Volkov.

"It's okay, Phara. I won't bite," she smiled. What a shame.

She stared at Phara until she began to falter. "I guess I'll see you later, Emrie," she mumbled. "Oh, and Phara. I did forget to mention Ms. Admas would like to speak to you," she said, giving Phara no room to argue. So I guess Ms. Admas isn't married.

She watched Phara until she was out of sight, then looked at me. When her eyes connected with mine, I felt goosebumps rise on my skin.

"Do you mind if we move this towards my office," she beckoned towards the office door. I don't understand why we couldn't discuss whatever it was in class, but without question, I followed her. I walked into the office and waited for her to come in.

When she came in, I didn't hear a click, so I knew she didn't lock the door.

I watched as she walked around her desk and sat in the chair. When she sat, I heard a click but thought nothing of it. She folded her arms, then leaned back and just looked at me. She was studying me.

"What has Phara told you," she asked.

"What do you mean," I asked.

I was bewildered. Phara hasn't told me anything. If anything, last night was when she started back talking to me. She hasn't been talking all week.

"Has Phara told of any events happening around her," she asked in detail this time. "No ma'am. She hasn't talked to me all week," I responded.

"Good girl," she mumbled.

Huh? Good girl? Why do I feel jealous?

"She has been acting strange recently and wanted to know if there was anything she had told you that could help us better understand," she smiled at me, but I knew she was lying somehow. "No, she hasn't told me anything," I said. I was weary of her but still telling the truth.

I guess she caught on to me being weary of her because the air around her froze. She slowly got up from her chair and walked towards me. I somehow felt that she was upset, but she still had a smile on her face.

No matter how scared I am, I will stand my ground. "What's wrong," she asked, now standing in front of me. I didn't say anything and shook my head. "Words, Emrie," she growled. "Nothing," I said as I released a breath. "Good girl," she said, bringing her smile back, making my knees weak.

"Um, can I go now," I asked, ready to leave. She didn't answer. Instead, she just stared at me. I didn't waste another second and turned to leave. The door is locked. When did she? Before I saw her, I felt her. "I didn't say you could leave," she whispered.

She was so close I felt her on me. My mind can't take this right now. "Look at me when I talk to you, Emrie," she demanded. I turned around to see she did not look happy. Not one bit.

When I turned back toward her, she hooked a finger under my chin and kissed me. I felt something in me burst from the excitement. I just got kissed by Ms. Volkov. I just kissed her. Pulling back, she rubbed my bottom lip with her thumb.

"Now you can leave," she smiled, letting me go.

I blushed when I caught her looking at me through her lashes. I quickly turned once I heard the click again and high-tailed out of there.

I made it to my car, ready to leave, but Phara wasn't there. I turned around in time to see a satisfied Ms. Admas on the school steps and a blushing Phara coming my way. What happened between them? I also saw Ms. Volkov come out and start talking to Ms. Admas. During their conversation, they both snapped their heads towards me.

"Ready to go," Phara asked, breaking my concentration. Nodding my head, I got in and started the car. "So what was that about," I asked Phara as I pulled out of the parking lot. "What was what," she asked while looking out the window.

"You and Ms. Admas," I said. She started to fidget in her seat but still didn't say anything. "Nothing," she coughed up after a while. Not saying anything, I pulled up in the driveway and left after turning the car off.

"Emrie," she called out, but I kept walking. "Emrie," she called again, but I didn't stop until I was in my room, and she followed. "Emrie," she whispered. "What, Phara," I snapped by accident. I watched as she flinched at my tone.

"They said I could finally tell you what happened," she whispered. They? "Well then, please enlighten me, Phara," I sat down and folded my arms.

"I want to start by saying I don't think Ms. Admas and Ms. Volkov are human."
