2nd POV
After your talk with Venti was over, the two of you headed back inside, where the others were waiting.
As you stepped inside the warm building, an annoyed huff reached your ears. Without looking up, you already knew that it came from Paimon. She seemed rather annoyed.
"There you are. This took you long enough." She sighed, overdramatic, while crossing her arms. Her action, received a mere chuckle from Venti. You on the other side bayed no heed to the pixie, too tired to pander to her whims.
"What were you talking about anyway?" She asked, curiously peering at you.
You crossed your arms with a sigh. "If I wanted you to know, then I wouldn't have gone outside." The pixie puffed her cheeks in disappointment, "Hmpf. Fine. Paimon isn't that curious anyway. It probably wasn't even that interesting. The two of you likely just went outside to flirt, anyway."You gave Venti a warning look, to which he responded with a smirk. He turned to Paimon with a grin, "Sheesh. Guess you caught us there."
Sighing in annoyance, you smacked the bard on the back of his head. "Stop saying such nonsense."
"You're so mean..." The bard pouted, childishly, as he adjusted his hat.
Rubbing your temples tiredly, you stood there, wondering what you could have possibly done to deserve this.
"Are you done?" Diluc asked, his arms crossed. He seemed pretty done with your antic arguments. Seriously, you couldn't blame him for that. You were also pretty done with them by now.
"Yes. Let's proceed with our plan. I really want to get this over with." You replied with a subtle smile.
*a while later*
You were currently fighting your way through the Fatui hideout. Quickly, properly speaking. Since you wanted to avoid hearing any more complaints from Paimon, about you being useless, you took matters in your hands and dealt with some guys yourself. Since, Aether and you cleared out different rooms parallelly, your group rushed through the dungeon at a fast pace.
Jean and Venti, were with you, while Diluc accompanied Aether and Paimon.
After you successfully put the Fatui to flight, you went to look for the key, you needed to keep going. After a while of looking, you sighed tiredly. The key wasn't here, so Aether and the others must have found it.
You were about to leave the room, when Jean suddenly cleared her throat, in an attempt to get your attention. You stopped in your tracks and turned around, facing the female with a questioning look.
"I know this might not be the best time, but there is something I'm really curious about." She muttered, her arms crossed. For some reason, she seemed rather tense, or rather reluctant, to speak up. "(Y/N), you don't have a vision. So, how are you capable of using Elements?"To tell the truth, you weren't really surprised to hear her question. You knew that you were going to have to face the same kind of question, many times in the future.
"I don't know." You replied with a shrug.
That's the answer, you were going to repeat over and over again. It was the truth after all, and if people were unsatisfied with it, then it was going to be their problem.
"I see." Jean replied, seemingly taken aback by your blunt reply. Of course, she hid it pretty well, behind her calm smile. "There is something else, I'd like to point out, if it's alright with you."
You simply nodded your head, quite curious about what else she had to say.
"I've watched you fight those guys just now. Yes, Amber had told me that you are skilled with a bow, but your skill is far beyond what I had imagined. Back then, to me, it seemed like you had experience in serious combat."
You gaped at her words. Yes, it was true, you had no trouble fighting those guys, but that must have been because they were weak. In the game they would have had a low level, so that must have been the case, right? Well, that's the only plausible way, in your opinion. You never once fought someone, before you came here. And the toughest enemy you have faced, in this world, was the Mitachurl with an axe, you had encountered to get the ore chunks for your bow.
"I'm sorry to disappoint you, but I've never used my bow in combat before coming to Mondstadt. Those guys must have been pretty weak, so I might have looked more skilled than I actually am. Where I'm from, it is even illegal to use weapons aside from training." You reasoned, trying to sound as plausible as possible. "And I can't remember being a criminal." You added with a grin, scratching the back of your head.
You kind of felt sorry, for letting Jean's hope down, like this, but you were only being honest.
Jean sighed. Looking at you, the woman could tell that you were telling the truth. But she knew what she had sawn. The way you had fought those guys was skilled, as if you had fought like this countless times before. But, what does it matter? If you couldn't see it yourself, what was the reason to tell you otherwise?
You glanced at Venti, who had been awfully quiet until now. He seemed somehow troubled and lost in thought.
"What's wrong?" You asked, teasingly poking his cheek. "You're so quiet, it's creeping me out." You joked with a grin. The bard turned to you with a surprised look, one hand placed upon the cheek you had just poked.
"It's nothing. I was simply spacing out." He gave you a reassuring smile. "Your conversation must have been too boring." He complained with a smirk, shrugging his shoulders.
He was clearly lying, but it was Venti, so there was no way he was going to tell you. If it were something important, he would have told you. . . . . right?
