Chapter 22 - Childe

2nd POV

"Here we are!" Paimon announced, excitedly kicking her legs, "Welcome to Liyue Harbor."

Your gaze traveled across the busy port. It was packed to the brim with people. Compared to Mondstadt, it was way livelier; way more noisy.
"I think I've seen enough.", you sighed, shrugging your shoulders, "I'll take my leave now." 

"We just arrived!" Paimon yelled annoyed, trying to pull you back, "We won't leave before we finished what we came here for."
You tilted your head back, letting out a groan, "Can't I just wait here until you are finished?"
"NO!" The pixie flew behind you and started shoving you across the bridge, towards the harbor.

You didn't say anything else, and unwillingly kept going.

"Since we are her, we should ask the locals where this year's Rite of Descension takes place." Paimon suggested with a chipper voice, leading you across the docks, "Oh, and you should refrain from calling the Geo Archon Morax. It's seen as impolite for people outside Liyue to refer to the Geo Archon by his name. So, while we are here, you should refer to him by the Name Rex Lapis."

Aether nodded understanding, while you just let out an irritated sigh, pursing your lips. Seeing your sour attitude, the blonde slightly leaned forward, so he could get a better look at your face.

"(Y/N),", he called out with a soft voice, causing you to look back at him.
Though, instead of saying something, he just gave you an encouraging smile.

Somewhat amused, you crossed your arms and rolled your eyes.
"Sorry, pretty boy, but your smile won't work this time. But I'll compliment you for your effort.", you hummed teasingly, before looking away.

Your blunt reply caused Aether's cheeks to turn red from embarrassment. He straightened his back and turned away bashfully.
Unknown to him, you teasingly stuck out your tongue, a victorious grin on your lips.

Paimon tilted her head, looking at the two of you confused. 

After asking around in Liyue, you headed to the Yujing Terrace, where the event was supposed to take place.

Arriving at the plaza, Paimon stopped the two of you with a smile, "Paimon heard that the best time to make a wish is today, during the Rite of Descension. Do you want to give it a try?"

You shrugged your shoulders, somewhat indifferent. To be honest, you didn't believe that something would magically come true, by merely wishing for it.

Despite that opinion, you still joined the duo at the censers to make a wish.

"I wish for my memories to come back."

"I wish to return home."

These were your wishes.

Under normal circumstances, you would have wished for someone else's happiness and wellbeing, but this time you couldn't bring yourself to do so.

"Great!" Paimon spoke up with a satisfied grin, "Now that we're all done with the wishing, guess we can just wait here for things to get started."

A while later, the ceremony finally began.
You caught a glimpse of a tall lady with white long hair; dressed in expensive looking clothes, decorated with gold pattern.
Well, you couldn't deny that Ninggunag looked way better than in-game, but she simply wasn't your type.
Though, seeing how great she looked, you couldn't help but look forward to meeting Beidou.
