It's been two days since Louis' ultimatum and the house is tense. Natalie barely leaves Louis' room because of how much she can feel it. Louis stays with her of course, doing whatever he can to reassure her, but he can only do so much.
He is surprisingly calm about all of this, he's confident they'll let her stay. He keeps telling her she's great at her job and it only makes sense for them to keep her.
He isn't wrong about her being good at her job, their engagement has almost doubled since she started there and she's been really good at keeping them on schedule and organizing interviews and meetings for them.
She just wishes she could be as confident as he is. Or maybe even half that.
Right now she is pacing back and forth while Louis stands near the edge of the bed folding some of their laundry.
"How are you not even nervous?" She asks incredulously. It's been eating her up inside even though she's trying so hard to not let it and he's just cool as a cucumber.
He shrugs and looks up at her, "I have you either way."
She stops dead in her tracks, "Louis, you can't be serious." She's dumbfounded, absolutely dumbfounded.
He just shrugs at her and looks down shyly. She's not sure he meant to admit that out loud. She walks over to him and grabs his face in both her hands.
"Louis, my precious Louis," she says brushing his hair back from his forehead.
His cheeks have turned a little pink and she is always amazed at just how much her heart swells when he becomes shy like this.
"I'm not very good with words, you always are. It's something I really admire about you and something I wish I could give you back as good as you give to me."
"Hey, I know you. I understand, it's okay."
"Thank you, but I want to be able to tell you how I feel but it's like I get so overwhelmed by how much I like you that I can't think of the right things to say."
"So say the wrong things, say whatever comes to your mind."
She shuffles back to sit on the bed and he stands in front of her in between her legs. There he goes again with being perfect with his words.
She closes her eyes and smiles as she wraps her arms around his back and rests her head on his tummy. He chuckles and pats her head.
She pulls back after a second.
"This is my first relationship and to be honest I didn't expect much. Not of you specifically, I mean like in general like when I used to think of what one might be like. I would never dream up anything close to how kind and loving you've been to me."
She grabs him by the hand and pulls him to sit down with her on the bed. She scoots closer so one of her knees rests on top of his and her hands are folded in her lap.
"I didn't think I deserved it, but with you Louis I'm starting to understand. You make me believe in myself. You love away all my doubts, I didn't think anyone could do that. I swear to you I've never been so happy. I've never felt more safe and secure and I'll spend the rest of my life hoping I do the same for you."
She reaches her hand up and puts it on his cheek. He sinks into the touch.
"You make me smile and laugh and give me so many butterflies I'm thinking of opening up an exhibit."
He chuckles and shakes his head at her lame joke.
"I never really knew what missing someone was until I met you. I never had that constant, that person you knew you could go to no matter what. You're so selfless Louis. You always always take care of me. You're my best friend, you're everything," she says through a sniffle.
"You see me in a way I never thought anyone would be able to. And I think it's the most special thing in the world. I'm not sure how else to put it really, but I feel like you have a piece of my heart. It's forever yours and I wouldn't want it any other way."
"Oh love," he says his eyes welling up with little tears. "Now I'm at a loss for words. That was so beautiful." He coos.
He pulls her into a hug and then leans back, taking her face in his hands and rubbing his thumb up and down her cheek.
"You mean the world to me. You are so so kind baby. You're so intentional and you're always showing me little ways you care for me. And it means so much to me. And your words are so beautiful, love everything you have to say."
He leans his forehead against her and she puts a hand on each of his thighs.
"And thank you for telling me how you feel. Love, love your words." He says against her lips.
They get startled away from each other when they hear Niall choke out a sob and turn into Liam's chest as he wraps his arms around Niall tightly.
They now both remember they left the door open when they brought their laundry back in.
"We get it now. We're with you," Liam says with glossy eyes.
"We're with you," Harry confirms, nodding his head a little while a tear falls down his cheek.
Zayn is quiet but nods.
Then Niall breaks away from Liam and jumps on top of Natalie and Louis.
"I've never known love like this," he says dramatically and Natalie smiles. She pushes her hand through the hair on the back of his head. "If anyone deserves it though, its the two of you."
As if she wasn't crying before. That was the nail in the coffin.
She looks up at Louis and he immediately wants to reach out and hold her, but there's a Niall in their way.
"Come on Ni, let's let them be. It's late," Zayn calls Niall as the rest of them disperse.
Niall kisses Natalie's cheek before clapping Louis on the back and leaving.
Louis comes and holds Natalie from behind on the bed. Each of his legs going to either side of hers. His arms wrap tightly around her waist and his chin hooks over her shoulder. He presses small kisses to her cheek and neck.
They stay like that for the rest of the night, she can feel Louis' heartbeat steady on her back and she intertwines her fingers with his.
It's never enough for the two of them, they could be stuck together with super glue and still want to be closer.
"Do you believe in soul mates?" Louis whispers. He doesn't give her a chance to answer before he says, "I think you're mine."
