While I was with Angel, I didn't hear the wolf sneaking up behind me. Angel was fast asleep, not noticing either. When I turned, I was tackled down. I look into dark charcoal grey eyes and the wolf shifts back, revealing my classmate Bren. He rolls off laughing. "I got you Alex!" He laughs. I punch him in the stomach, "Shut Up Loser." He shifts back and yips. I ignore him and sit down by the fire. When I look around, I don't see Kane, Jason, or Kyle anywhere. "Where are the three?" I ask Bren. He shifts back. "I saw them running off when I snuck up on you, so probably out in the forest." He says. I nod, and look over at Dec. Hurt glimmers his eyes when he stares right at me and Bren. What's wrong Dec? I ask him through the mind link. I wait for him to answer but I'm met with a wall. I look away from him. I can feel Bren trying to speak to me, as well as Luke. I shut them out and try to speak with Kane. Hey, I want to go home already. And I don't know how to get there. I tell him. Okay. I'll come and get you. He replies. Ok. I say back. "I'm heading home already. I'll see all of you guys tomorrow at school." I say when Kane trots in. But Kyle, and Jason aren't back. Kane shifts back and wraps his arm around me in a brotherly way. "Let's head home before dawn comes. So you can be ready for school tomorrow." He says. I nod and wave goodbye to the wolves still watching us. Before we leave, they all lower down into a bow, lowering their heads. Kane nods and stares at them then keeps walking. "Kane, you can come back after you leave me home. I know you're their Alpha." I say as we're walking. "You're my sister. I have to take care of you, and leaving you defenseless is not taking care of you." He growls at me. I look away and keep walking. Just as we're almost there, I hear a low growl like thunder comes from under a bush. Kane pushes me behind him and gets in a defensive position. From under the bush, comes out a silver white wolf with light blue eyes, and it has a grey tipped tail. It looks straight passed Kane and stares deep into my eyes, searching. I look at Kane, "Is the whole town wolves?" I ask. He nods, "Except a few who lost their wolves, or haven't gotten them." I look at the silver white and see its grey tipped tail slipping back under the bush. "Come on Alexa. Got to get you home before the adult pack shows up." Kane says, looking back for me. I run to catch up. We get home and he opens the window instead of the door. "It's so they can't follow your scent." He says, noticing my confused look. "Who was that wolf?" I ask. "That was Ryder. The Prince of the Pack." He growls angrily. I move back at his anger, Kane never got angry. "Calm down, Big Brother." I say, resting my hand on his arm. He looks at me and smiles. He wraps my hand through his arm, resting my hand on his upper arm. I laugh as he grabs my other hand and starts dancing with me. "Since you missed father daughter dance, and you know about Dad." He says, smiling sadly. I nod my head and when start dancing to the song Girls Chase Boys by Ingrid Michaelson. I rest my head on his shoulder and whisper, "I love you, Kane. You're the best older brother ever." He kisses my forehead, "I love you too Alexa. I couldn't ask for a more annoying little sister." He laughs. I gasp, "Shut up." He hugs me then backs up, "Time for you to go to sleep." I yawn, and he carries me up to my room. He lays me down on my bed and covers me. "Go to sleep. Don't worry if you hear howling, I asked some wolves to guard the house." He tells me as he's closing the door. I just roll over and try to sleep. Soon I hear a chorus of howls and crys echoing around the house. I smile then look out the window. A pair of ice blue eyes look back at me. I turn away then go back to sleep.
