*Next Morning*
I dress quickly and straighten my hair. I let Zan and Ghost out, knowing that Ghost will bring them both back. I run out the door while trying to pull on my heels, so I won't be late. When I open the back door, I hear laughter coming from the dining room. Ash smiles and presses a kiss to my hand. Alek stops laughing and looks at me, jealousy flashes in his eyes then disappears. Kane smiles, hugs me, and kisses my cheek. "What have you done?" He whispers in my ear and I look at him in mock shock. "Why Kane, a doll like me could never do anything to anyone." I say in a fake Southern Belle accent and he shakes his head, a chuckle coming from him. I sit between Ash and Alek, with Bren in front of me again.
Worse seat.
You've got that right.
I know.
Why did you sit here anyways?
Wanted to be with my mates, but Bren just happened to be there.
Yeah, sure.
I hear a low howl and I turn to the front door. I get up and look through the window. A white wolf with two scars over his left eye is staring back at me with glowing golden eyes. "K-Kane." I yell, not taking my eyes off the wolf's. I hear commotion behind me but I don't turn my head, no matter how much I wanted to. I feel someone behind me and then a low growl comes from them. "Alexa, break his gaze. Now." I hear Ash growl and I finally break the wolf's gaze. I turn and see Alek standing behind Ash, his eyes cold. "Alexa, you need to go talk to that wolf." He says, and I stop the snarl from coming out my mouth. I open the door and walk to the wolf. "Shift back." I order and it growls, but does as I asked. A man older than me, and taller, stares down at me. "Alexa Sinclair?" He asks and I nod. Without warning, he pulls me tightly against him in a hug. "You can't believe how happy I am that I found you." He says and I stay awkwardly stiff. "Um, if I may ask, who are you?" I ask. "I'm Joshua Drago. I'm related to you and Kane from your mother's side." He says and I look at him. "How?" I ask, not believing him. "I am your mother's half brother, from our father's fooling around. I was born six months prior to the birth of  your mother. I come from the Amalfi Coast of Italy, in hopes of finding one of you. And I found you both." He laughs and hugs Kane, who I hadn't had heard come from the house. Kane chuckles and I stand quietly. "Is there a chance my dad's alive?" I ask, my voice soft. "I'm not sure. Your parents had ordered that you both be sent to the Amalfi Pack, but you never came. We thought all was safe with your pack, until news came of your parents murder." He says and I nod. "All packs were ordered by the King to find and bring you to the Amalfi Pack, but you were never discovered. Now, I find you far from the original location of the RedHill pack. And, may I ask, why is that?" He turns to Kane, who rubs the back of his neck. "We were cast out by the King. We traveled and found this land. I soon found an old friend of mine, by the name of Ace Farkas, and we settled here." Kane says and I look at him.
Why do you forget the major details?
Keeps us safe.
Sure.
Shut up.
Nah. I'd rather argue.
I'm warning you, Alexa.
Sure Kane.
Shift up, you bug.
Whatever.
Joshua looks between us and I study him. "Why is she looking at me like that?" He asks Kane. "She's studying you. Trying to see if you're telling the truth." He answers and Joshua scoffs. "Don't believe I'm from the Amalfi Pack?" He asks and unbuttons four buttons from his shirt. He moves it from his left shoulder, exposing the Amalfi Pack symbol tattooed to his skin. He continues to unbutton his shirt and I tilt my head in confusion. "I'm also affiliated with the Sinclairs." He says and shows his back. And true to his word, he had three of the main Sinclair tattoos. One of which Kane also had. I never understood why my father made them the most painful tattoos. I run my finger over them and I feel him shudder. "Do either of you have one?" He asks, turning around. Kane shows his chest, which has the wolf rearing up with Norse runes written underneath. At the age of 15, I translated them to find their meaning as I was very curious about the words. And what I found surprised me. And it still does. What would my dad have to do with Fenrir, the Norse Monster Wolf?
