Chapter 25: Rather Be

ALEXA'S P. O. V
I turn my head and see Liam sound asleep. I press a kiss to his lips and he smiles into it. I roll out of bed and walk into the bathroom. He follows behind and sits on the edge of the tub. I go into the closet and I lower my shorts and walk back into the bathroom. I lift up my shirt and see the bump is a lot bigger. I place my hands over it and feel more protective than ever. He hugs me from behind and places his hands over mine. He kisses the back of my neck and I lean back into him. Tingles dance up and down my spine and I shiver in his arms. He leans his face on the side of my neck and I lower my shirt. "What's the plan today?" He asks. I turn and wrap my arms around his neck, "I don't know. What do you want to do?" He thinks for a moment, "Lazy day?" He says. I nod and pull my shorts back up. "Wait, I want to go see Rosemary." I say, pulling his hand. "Fine. Get dressed comfortably." He says, and I nod. He walks into the closet and my eyebrows scrunch together. "I had Bren bring my clothes in yesterday." He tells me and I nod. I grab my white Bring Me the Horizon t-shirt and my blue BMTH hoodie. I slip on my black jeans and put on my wedged Converse. I turn and see Liam putting on his Panic! At the Disco hoodie. "You listen to Panic! At the Disco?" I ask. "Yeah, you?" He asks and I nod. "Obviously." I say, showing him the section just of the band. He shakes his head and laces up his Converse. "Come on. Let's go now so we can watch movies." He says, holding his hand out for me. I look out the window and squeal. "It snowed." I say loudly. He looks out and shakes his head. "We're going to have to shift." He says then turns to me. "Can you?" He asks and I tilt my head. "Can I what?" I ask. "Shift. Will it hurt the baby?" He asks and I shrug. "I can walk. It's fine." I say. He growls, "That's not right. I'll walk with you." I sigh and head out the room. Ghost and Zan follow at my heels and bark. "Liam! I'm taking them!" I yell. "I'm right behind you. And I'll get Zan's leash." He says and I growl. "I don't leash them up. Ever." I say. "Okay, okay." He says, holding his hands up. I open the door and Zan races out. He falls into a pile of snow and comes back up with snow all over his ears. I laugh and wipe it off. He barks at Ghost but he sits at my side. Liam takes my hand in his and I look up at him. He closes the door and we walk to the stable.
"How far away is it?" I ask after ten minutes. "About two miles east. We're halfway there." He replies and helps Zan out of another snowdrift. Ghost wouldn't leave my side, even if Zan would pull his ear.
*After another ten minutes*
"Here we are." Liam says as we approach a large stone building. "This is the place?" I ask, and he nods. "Like I said at the ceremony it will need a bit of work, but we can fix it." He says, and I kiss his cheek. "Kane was telling me yesterday about a white stallion that roams over here. I was hoping to catch him." He tells me as we get closer. "Yin and Yang?" I laugh and he chuckles. "Something like that." I open the door and see Rosemary two stalls down. "Hey Rose." I say as I pet her nose. She nickers and pushes against the pocket of my hoodie. "Here." Liam says, handing me a pack of carrots. "She's been wanting some." He says when I give her one. "I do hope you find that stallion. Would be nice if the both of us could ride." I say as I pet Rosemary's face.
"We should head back. It's getting late." Liam says. "What time is it?" I ask. "Almost four." He replies and I straighten. "I'll come back tomorrow." I say to Rosemary and she nods her head. I laugh softly and Liam wraps his arm around my waist, then pulls me closer. I snuggle into his side and we walk out of the barn. Ghost and Zan race off and I barely even see Ghost. "They know their way back. It's okay to let them run." Liam says and I look up at him. "Yeah, but they're like my kids. I can't let them go far." I reply. He sighs and shakes his head, "You are something else, Alexa." He laughs. I glare at him playfully and he mimics me. I lean closer and nip his mark. "Now you've done it." He says and I take off at a run. I hear him right behind me and I speed up. I hear a soft bark and I see Ghost. I slow down and sit at the base of a large oak tree. Ghost jumps onto my lap and I rub his back. I see Zan and Ghost jumps off. I climb into the branches of the large tree and look down. A large white wolf trots behind Zan and looks around. Liam looks up and I move into the shadow. He shifts back and climbs into the tree. When he's close to me, I drop. I land on my feet and he jumps down. "Be careful!" He says and I roll my eyes. "I know Liam." I say and start walking. He pulls me back into him, "I only worry because I care about you." "I know you do, but let me live a little. I won't hurt the baby." My phone starts vibrating and I see its from Kane.
A~ Hello?
K~Hey, need you both at the house. Lance has been calling and said your phone doesn't work.
A~Uh, ok. We'll be right there.
"Liam, Kane needs us at the house." I say. "Then we've got to run." He says, and starts running. I follow at his side and Ghost stays at my side. Zan stays with Liam and matches his strides.
*Once they arrive*
"There you both are." Kane says, jumping up from the couch. "Yeah." I respond and sit in the love seat. Liam sits beside me and takes my hand. "Lance called saying you need to go asap. Something about a check up." He says and I nod. "We can go now, right Liam?" I ask, turning to him. He nods and helps me up. He grabs the keys from the hook and unlocks the car. I get in, and he starts the engine. We drive the twenty minutes to the AshPeak pack house.
*At the AshPeak Pack House*
"Alexa, Liam, come in." Lance says and hugs me, then shakes Liam's hand. "Come on, we need to do a checkup." He says, leading us the same way as last time. I lay on the bed and he already had the machine ready. I lower my jeans and lift my shirt and hoodie. He puts on the gel and I hold onto Liam's hand. "It's still too early to tell what sex it is but when the time comes, would you like to know?" Lance asks me. "No." "Yes." Liam and I say at the same time. I raise an eyebrow at him, "No, Lance. I would not like to know." I answer. "Okay. Liam, do you mind waiting outside for a minute or so?" Lance asks and Liam shakes his head, and steps out. "Lance, can I tell you something?"
I say softly. "Anything." He replies. "I want to get a DNA test. Prince Jake told me on the first day I came, that he took me the night before and I want to know if it has even a slight percentage his." I say and he nods. "Let me get the vial." He says and exits the room, and Liam re-enters. He sits in the chair beside me and takes my hand in his. Lance returns holding a vial and a needle. "What's that for?" Liam asks and Lance looks at me, "You didn't tell him?" I shake my head, "He doesn't need to know this." I say softly and Liam growls. "I do need to know why you are doing this." I sigh in frustration, "It's to find out if Jake has any percentage in the baby, okay?" I snap. His eyes harden but he doesn't let go of my hand. Lance takes enough blood to fill the vial and gets it ready to send it. "The results should come quicker since you're an Alpha and it's about the Prince." Lance explains. I nod and get up. "Thanks again Lance. It means a lot." I say, hugging him. "No problem, but I might not be here for the rest of the week. My mother called me from London and I need to check on her." He says and I look at him in surprise, "You're British?" He laughs, "Yes, just I've been here for a while so I lost my accent but I'll be British once again." I giggle and Liam squeezes my hand. Lance walks us back out the car and waves us off.

JAKE'S P. O. V
"Why, Jake? Why did you do it?" Ryder asks me. "It was Leith, okay! He didn't want us to lose our rank and let you become the King." I snap and he looks at me. "I don't want to take Dad's place. I never wanted it." He responds and I look at him. "Well, now I've fûcked up and she's pregnant. If it's my kid, I'll be forced to be a part of the kid's life." I say and I run my hand through my hair. "And you don't?" Ryder asks as he sits beside me. "No. I want her, not the kid. I want the kid to be made with love, not by my fûckup. She wasn't even aware of it!" I yell and Ryder doesn't respond. I look up and see Kane. He shuts the door behind him and sits in the chair across from me. "Jake, if you knocked up my little sister, I'm after you. You know exactly who my family is, and we can hurt you." He warns and I nod, "I know." "Alexa wants to have a family with someone she loves. A person she truly loved is dead, and is pregnant possibly by you so don't say you want her but not the kid." He says and leaves. "I've fûcked up so bad, Ryder." I say again. "I know Jake, and only you can fix this mess." And he too leaves me to my thoughts.
