Chapter 39: The Green Eyed Devil

*The Next Day

"Alexa, wake up. You slept all day." A voice says and I blink. Aria is standing beside me, and I sit up. "We have to get you ready. My older sister, Celeste is here to help with your makeup and hair." She says and I see an older identical copy of Aria coming in. "Hold on. Let me comb my hair and brush my teeth." I say and she nods. They walk out and I quickly do what I said I was going to do. Aria comes back in and I look up. "Come, we have to put on your dress." She says and I sigh. I change into a strapless black bra and she shows me the dress. It was Victorian style. "It's beautiful." I say and she smiles. "Alpha Donati chose it for you." She says and my smile falters. She laces me up and I run my hands down the front. "Sit." She says, pointing to the chair. I sit and Celeste comes. Aria grabs the curling wand and starts to work on my hair. They turn me so Celeste can do my makeup.
*After they finish
"Thanks, you guys." I say and hug them. "Wait, one more thing." Celeste says and leaves. She returns holding something in a cloth. "This was specially made." She says and uncovers the metal mask. "It's beautiful." I say and Aria secures it over my eyes. "Come, Cristiano and Beta Drago are waiting outside." She says. "I need my heels." I say and she laughs. I slip on my velvet burgundy heels and they walk before me down the stairs. Joshua looks up and smiles. "You look wonderful." He says and twirls me around. "Celeste, Aria, run home. The ball's going to begin soon." He says and they nod. He walks me out and Renazo is waiting once again. "You look lovely." He says and I smile. He opens the door and returns the smile. Joshua gets in first and as I'm getting in, Renazo whispers in my ear. "I can't wait for their reactions." He says and I look at him but he closes the door. Their reactions? I think to myself but I don't mention it to Joshua. "Want wine?" He asks land I laugh. "Not yet." I say and he laughs. The limo starts moving and we sit in a comfortable silence.

"We're here." He says, and I look up at the massive castle. "Here?!" I exclaim and he chuckles. "Yes. I myself reside here, and own a villa down by yours." He says and I nod. Renazo opens the door and I clamber out. Many couples stare and point at me and I look straight ahead. Joshua loops my arm through his, resting my hand on his arm. Renazo drives off, and I look after the limo. "He'll be back, just went to park it." Joshua says and I nod with a small laugh. I look around for Celeste and Aria, and don't find their dark hair anywhere. "Who are you looking for?" Joshua whispers. "Celeste and Aria." I respond and he nods. "They'll be here soon, promise." He says and we walk up the steps. Many people dip their heads and Joshua would nod at them. Once inside, we stop at the top of another staircase. "Good thing, you already smell like us." Joshua whispers again. "The Alpha won't know its you." He jokes with amusement in his golden eyes and I smile. We start walking down, and many look up at us. I ignore the piercing stares I got from many women and the interested stares from men. "Don't worry, your guardian will be here soon." Joshua says and I look at him in confusion. "Renazo. He's your guardian. He said he wants to return with you to America." Joshua says and I look at him in shock. "I'd love that." I say and we take a seat at a table away from the dance floor. "Be careful, Alpha at 10 o'clock." He says while looking away. "Joshua, who's this?" Alpha Donati asks, knowing damn well who I am. I look up at him, and his brown eyes lock onto my green ones. "Sinclair, you look divine." He smiles and kisses my hand once again. "Be warned, my sons are looking for you." He grins and leaves. "There's Renazo. He'll remain with you for the remainder of the night." Joshua says and kisses my forehead. Renazo walks over to me and I smile. Half his face is covered with his mask and he smiles. "I'll get you a drink." He says and goes to the table. I stay seated and finally I see the sisters coming down the stairs with a man and woman. Aria points to me and she comes to me with Celeste. I stand and hug them both. "You two look beautiful." I say and Aria blushes. "Aria did not want to use her mask. She wanted to use one you have to hold, her arm would have gotten tired." Celeste says and we laugh together. "You look better this way." I say and sit down. "Go ahead, sit. I don't bite." I say and smile, showing sharp fangs. Aria's eyes widen and she sits quickly. I laugh and my teeth retract. "I always do that. But seriously, I don't bite." I say and she giggles. "Renazo was supposed to bring my drink ages ago." I groan and they laugh. "Let's dance." Aria whines and I look at Celeste. "Let's go." I say and we stand up. We make it into the center of the floor, and I see Joshua with Alpha Donati. He raises his glass and points to me. Alpha Donati nods and they walk towards the table. We start dancing, and a man in his late 50's asks me to dance. I agree with a smile. Celeste and Aria laugh as I miss his steps. I would playfully glare at them and soon got a hang of the dance. When the song ends, his kisses my cheek and his wife hits his shoulder and drags him away. I laugh and Aria and Celeste stare at me with small smiles playing on their faces. When the second song comes on, I dance with Joshua. "You finally got the dance right." He laughs and I growl playfully. "May I?" Renazo asks after a while. Joshua nods and Renazo replaces him. "How have you been doing, Alpha?" He asks lowly and I shake my head. "It's Alexa." I say. "Alexa, how has your night been going?" He asks. "Well, besides the fact you never brought me my drink." I pout and he chuckles. "My bad. I left them at the table, and you were gone." He says and I roll my eyes then narrow them playfully. Once the song ends, Renazo disappears as well. Aria and Celeste stare behind me with widen eyes and I turn slowly. "May I have this dance?" A green eyed man asks with a smirk. I nod, "Of course." I say, and he takes my hand in his and pulls me flush against him with a hand around my waist. "What's your name?" He asks me as we sway to the music. "Alexa. And yours?" I ask. "Not yet, il mio piccolo lupo." He smirks, and I groan internally as I didn't know what he was saying. His light green eyes stay locked on mine, even when the song is over. "Goodbye for now, il mio piccolo lupo." He says again and disappears into the crowd. Aria and Celeste grab me by each arm and drag me back to the table. "Do you not know who you were dancing with?" Celeste practically yells in my ear. "No." I shake my head. "That was Alpha Rhys. The Green Eyed Demon." She whispers the last part while looking around. My heart drops when she tells me who he was. "Alpha Donati warned that they were looking for me." I say more to myself. "What do you mean, looking for you?" Aria asks. "I didn't come here for vacation." I start, but am interrupted by Renazo coming holding three glasses. He hands one to the three of us, and we thank him. "Anything else, Alexa?" He asks and I shake my head. He nods and again disappears. "But, what was your purpose coming here?" Celeste asks. "I am to be given to Alpha Donati's sons." I say and they look at me. "Wow, really?" Aria asks and I nod my head once. "But I have two mates back home." I say and they stare at me. "You have mates, but are to be given to the Alphas? It doesn't make any sense." Celeste says and I nod. "I doubt I'll be able to have one of my mates. One is broken, the other is too possessive." I say and they look away. "We should dance again." I say and Aria nods eagerly. "You two go. My feet hurt." Celeste whines and I growl. "Come on, Celeste. Mine hurt too, but I'm not complaining." I say and she gets up. I dance with an elderly man, and the entire time, a certain pair of green eyes watch me. The song ends, and the man goes over to a woman and takes her hand in his. I look at them in longing, and someone taps my shoulder. "May I have this dance?" A man with blue eyes asks me. I nod and they too bring me right against them. "What's your name, beautiful?" He asks. "Alexa, and you are?" I respond. "You don't get to know yet, tesoro." He smirks and I resist the eye roll. When the song ends, he has the nerve to kiss my cheek and then blends into the crowd. Celeste and Aria once again pull me close. "Now you danced with Dominic, the Blue Eyed Monster or as some girls say, the lady killer." Celeste whispers and I feel my heart drop again. "Be very careful with him. Rhys is more the gentleman than he is." She says and I nod. "I know. He kissed my cheek and left." I say and they look at each other. "He does that, thinking you'll miss him." Celeste says and Aria nods. We dance with various pack members until Alpha Donati asks if we can dance. "I see you've met Rhys and Dominic already." He says and I nod. "They seem... lovely." I say and he throws his head back in laughter. "I don't know if lovely fits them, but whatever works for you." He says and I try not to roll my eyes. "How are you liking Amalfi?" He asks. "It's beautiful. I just love the view from my villa." I reply and he smiles. "Good good. Tomorrow I invited you and Renazo to dinner. Dress nicely." He smiles and I nod. When the song ends, he goes with Joshua. I see a pair of green eyes and blue eyes watching me from across the way. Dominic downs his drink and makes his way towards me. I grab Aria and walk as fast as I can away from him. "Slow down." She says and I barely do. But we get stopped by a group of girls. "Who are you?" One snobby voice snaps. "Yeah, you already got Rhys and Dominic's attention and you haven't been introduced to us." Another snaps. Their annoying voice start grating on my nerves and Echo growls. They stare at me with wide, scared eyes. I touch my canines with the tip of my tongue and feel them sharpened. I smile and they pale. I knew by now my eyes were a dark shade of emerald. Aria gets out of my grasp and someone escorts me away. I close my eyes and take deep breaths.
1... 2... 3. Repeat.
I say it in my head to calm down. When I reopen my eyes, I'm in a bedroom. I look at the person beside me and meet green eyes. "I couldn't have you killing my pack." He says and I nod. I could barely hear the music, and my heart rate picks up. "Relax Alexa, I'm not Dominic." Rhys says and I sit on the bed. "I'm just on edge. My wolf's not at rest." I say and Echo growls at me. "And why is that?" He asks and I look at him. "She's separated from her mates." I say and quickly wish the words back in my mouth. He stills and looks at me. "You are to be given to me and Dominic. Your wolf shouldn't have another is her mind or heart." He snaps and leaves. I remove my mask, and stare at myself in the mirror. I don't move and decide to have fun with it. Shut off my humanity. Let my primal wolf take over. This should be very fun indeed. Is the last thing that runs in my mind as I let my primal nature take over, cutting me out.
