*Five Days Later*
"Alexa! Come on!" Joshua yells and I adjust the bags. "Coming!" I yell back as I run out the door. Joshua takes my bags for me then throws them into the trunk of the car. I hug Kane and he rests his chin on top of my head. "Be careful." He says and I nod.
Be smart. Don't get caught up with those two.
I know. And I'll probably get them caught up in all of this.
I so did not need to know that, but be careful.
I laugh and Ash pulls to him. "I'll miss you." He whispers against my hair. "I'll miss you too." I say and he tries to scent me. I pull away and I look at Alek. He simply dips his head and I feel my heart shatter once again. I sniff and Joshua opens the door for me. He closes it behind me and I wave to them, more to Alek. He smiles slightly and his face is once again void of emotion. I sigh and turn away. "What's wrong, mia figlia?" He asks and I blink, not sure what he said. "What's wrong?" He asks once again. "Just that, Alek's so guarded. He's hurting me, and he doesn't care." I say, and I feel a wetness on my face. I touch my cheek and feel the tears running down my face. "Alek Volkov and his brother experienced terrible things during their childhood. You must be patient with him. Ash accepted everything quicker, but Alek is tormented by his past." He says then looks at me quickly. "You can talk with him if you want." He says and I look at him in question. "How? He's not in the pack?" I ask. "Mates have connection to each other." He says, and I nod.
Alek?
What?
I just wanted to talk.
I can tell.
Why are you like this to me?
I told you already. I don't let people in for a reason.
I want to know why. Stop pushing me away!
Stop trying to meddle in my life!
You're my mate!
No! You're mine! Not the other way around!
Ugh!
Just leave me alone!
No! I'll make Joshua bring me back and I'll lock us in a room. You'll have to talk to me.
Stop trying! Go mess with Ash!
The more you push me away, the less chance you have.
I want to feel the goodness of having a mate, but I'm stuck.
I can help you out. Let me in.
No, I'm sorry Alexa. I can't do that to you.
Alek...
No, I won't do it to you.
And with that, he blocks me from his mind. I huff and drop back against the seat. "Did you fight?" Joshua asks and I simply nod. I pull out my phone and see it's barely 8:30. "What time will we be getting there?" I ask. "To the airport or Italy?" He asks. "Italy." I answer. "I called my Alpha and he allowed us to use his private jet, so we'll be leaving here at nine. It is eight hours ahead, so at around 4 AM the next day." He says and I groan. "But since it is a jet, we might get there faster." He says and I nod.
*an hour later*
I grab my bag from the trunk and Joshua takes it from me. He hands his and mine to another wolf in a suit then turns to me. "Come." He says and starts walking to the large jet. I walk right at his heels and we enter. I look around at the luxurious interior and Joshua makes himself comfortable in the leather seat. I take a seat across the aisle from him and he snaps his fingers. A small girl comes running from the front of the plane. "Angel, bring me a bottle of champagne and two glasses." He orders and she nods, keeping her eyes downcast. "Angel?" I ask and she looks up. "A-Alexa?" She stutters, her eyes large. Hurt flashes then pure hatred. "You left me!" She screams and launches herself at me. Joshua quickly grabs her and she snarls. He growls and she averts her eyes. "Do you know her?" Joshua asks me and I nod once. "She abandoned me." Angel cries and I snarl. "When the King chased us out, you didn't come after us. Jason and I ran after everyone. You stayed." She starts wailing and the pilot comes. "Is there a problem, Beta?" He asks Joshua and he shakes his head. "Take her. I'll deal with her when we arrive." Joshua snaps and the pilot nods. He throws Angel over his shoulder and heads back to the front. I stay staring at the ground, and I feel a warm hand on my shoulder. "It's not your fault. She stayed." Joshua says and I nod. "I know. She was always a traitor. I knew from the beginning, but I choose to see the good in people." I answer and sit back down. He sits down and I plug my earbuds into my phone. The first song that plays is Not a Bad Thing by Justin Timberlake. I press the repeat button and the song reminds me of Alek. I close my eyes and decide to sleep away the remainder of the flight.
