Chapter 9: First Heat

Kane's P.O.V
Once I smelled the scent change on my baby sister, I instantly regretted forcing the finding of her wolf. When she noticed that I started acting different she tried to touch me, but my wolf did not want an accident to happen that we will both regret. I quickly left after telling her I'll be sharing a room with Jason, leaving her alone. I mind link Kaye, Briar, and Elle to go and check up on Lex. I hear them enter the room and I rest my head back on the chair. "Kane, what's going on?" Dec asks as all the guys in the pack look at me in question as to why I called them. "Look, Alexa's going through her first heat and I don't want any accidents or regrets to happen." I say, holding my face in my hands. They look at me in shock and Luke asks the question, "How are you sure, I mean you have to smell it." I nod, "You can. Since it's her first one, she won't feel anything yet but we can smell it mixed with her scent. So I don't want anyone but the girls going into her room and no one is allowed to speak to her besides mind linking. Understood?" They all nod, their eyes wide in shock and surprise. They all go to their rooms and I look at Jason, "Do you think Chase has wolves following us?" "I don't know, but I'm guessing a lot of the people here seem to be like us. I mean like the lady even said the wolves come out, but the closest wild wolves are way up in the valley." "Yeah, I smelled wild wolves up in the valley but here, I can smell wolf. Our kind, so maybe there are a lot here. We might meet some the longer we stay, so I suggest we start leaving." Jason shakes his head, "What about Lex's heat? Won't whoever is wolf smell that, and try to mate with her?" I hang my head, "Yeah, that problem. Guess we'll just have to keep her with the girls and the rest stay on the sides." He nods and I call back everyone. I retell them my plan and they agree and I go to Lex's room. I open it and see the girls asleep on the bed. I shake Lex gently and she opens her eyes, "What Kane?" "Wake up the girls we're leaving right now." I quickly leave and go back to Jason's room. "I woke them up, they should be coming." He nods, and the guys wait outside. I follow and wait on the girls to come out. After twenty long minutes, they finally walk out. I sniff and Lex's scent now smells like perfume, hiding her heat scent. I smile slightly and turn to them. I retell them the plan and they nod. "Okay, let's turn in the keys and get out of here." We go to the entrance of the hotel to find no one. I drop off the keys and we head off. We shift once we hit the trees. The girls stay center and me, and Jason are left Luke and Bren are right and Dec is leading up the back. I give a low bark and we run to Eureka.
*After a few hours*
We stop right as we see the lights from the town. I sniff and don't smell other wolves so I bark and shift back, everyone following suit. "I can't smell any others so I'm guessing this place is safe." Lex sighs and smiles in relief. "Let's head into town, and try and find a bank. I know our account should still have some cash left." I start heading into the town called Eureka. I see a bank and I head there first to find out how much money we still have. I check through ATM and turn back to the pack. "We have enough to buy or build two houses." I say, with a grin. Everyone smiles and we go look for a place to stay the night. I shrug, not wanting to use more money, "Let's go into the forest and shift. We'll sleep out there for the night." The girls groan in annoyance. "What's wrong with sleeping with your pack?" I growl. They lower their heads and don't say another word. Finally we sleep deep in the forest.

Once I wake and head into the town's outskirts hoping to find and build us a home. I am walking when I come to a clearing big enough to hold one huge house and many cottages. I shift back and scope out the area. I smile, I finally found our new home.
