Chapter 31: The Beast Howls In My Veins

  I wake to a cold space beside me and I sigh.
Don't worry. I'm just showering.

I feel a hand touch my face and I look around.

I finally get out of bed and tiptoe out of the room. I perk my ears and don't hear a sound. I carefully make my way down and walk towards the door. I carefully open it and step out onto the porch. I close it behind me and shift.
I keep my head lowered and follow Kane's trail. I finally find them on the border between the AshPeaks and the cougars. Bren yips and Kane looks up.
I told them that you would realize and come back.
I'm not coming back with you.

I've been established here. I have my future here.

He jumps in front of me and I snarl. He growls and I get pushed into Liam, who growls at Kane.

I snarl and glare at Kane while baring my teeth. He growls and snaps at my paws. I dance back and he bites down onto my throat. I howl and kick at him.
I didn't want to have to do this, Alexa. But you gave me no choice.
My vision goes blurry and my kicks get weaker.

I kick harder and Kane loosens but not enough.
Cas and I are following your trail.

Kane's eyes are pitch black and I know it's his wolf. I look to my side and see Briar. She lowers down, whining. I kick one final time and Kane jumps off.

I struggle to get up and soon I can smell Brayden. Kane's eyes are locked onto my neck and I lay down.
I hear a growl and I look up. Brayden and Cas were surrounded by Kane, Luke, Dec, Jason, and Bren. Liam was sitting away from everyone and I slowly get up. He helps me up and I shy away.
I'm not going to try anything, Lex.

I nuzzle him and walk to Brayden. He looks at Kane then down to my neck.

I nuzzle his face and neck and shift, and so does he. Since I barely reached his shoulders, I only rub against his chest. He leans down, and rubs his cheek against mine then presses a kiss to my ear. "I'll be waiting." He whispers lowly. "I'll return to you soon. I promise." I whisper back. He wraps his arms around me in a hug and looks at the pack. Kane dips his head and barks. Brayden finally lets me go and I shift. Kane nuzzles my head, I'm sorry. But it's the only way you would've came back.
I know but I don't want to leave him.
You're in heat. I think staying with us until your third is a wise choice.
I suppose, but I'm going to long for him.
I know, but I have the pills.
Thanks but I'm not taking them.
