Chapter 16

Goat? Kambing? Anong ibig sabihin ni Hani?

I don't quite understand their words so until evening the words stucked in my mind. Sinubukan kong makipag-usap kay Denise kanina pero si Hani, grabe makabantay napakaprotective that I can't even get past and stand a chance. Nakakainis.

"How's school?" tanong ni Lolo habang naghahapunan kami.

Kami lahat ang tinatanong niya.

The 24-seater long table is almost filled-up. The 12 grandsons are all almost present, well except for the one who is in heaven, and to the two who are in the UK. The first seat next to Lolo was empty, that is the seat of the First Hinago, Kuya Javier.

"Morris?" Lolo called the one who is on the other side of him. "How's medschool?"

"It's fine, Lo... Actually, release na ng grades ko." dumukot mula sa bulsa si Kuya Morris at iniabot ang sobre na may tatak na UP-Diliman.

Napalunok ako. Kuya Morris is smart. Surely his grades are way higher than mine. Damn pressure.

If my brother Javier is the first born, si Kuya Morris and sumunod sa kanya. The moment he handed his grades, iyon rin ang ginawa ng ilan pa.

"Isaiah... bakit cinco itong nasa card mo?" Lolo's forehead creased. "Bagsak ka?"

"Taga-La Salle ako, Lo. Remember?" my brother Isaiah told him. The 7th Grandson. He's taking up Aviation in La Salle.

"Morgan, anong nangyayari sa grades mo?" tanong ni Lolo.

"Isang subject lang nagpapasira ng buhay ko diyan, Lo."

"Philosophy?" Tanong ni Kuya Lino. Ang pinakamatalinong apo. He was supposed to be studying at Harvard because he got accepted. But then pinili niya na lang na doon mag-Masters at sa UP mag-college.

"I don't care about Philosophy, and about how it justify absurd things. I only care to learn on how to command money to do my whims."

"Cadmael?"

"I obtained a diamond, so my rank got higher..." He shrugged. "One more left, and I'll become a captain, Lo."

Napabuntong-hininga ako at tiningnan ang military hat niyang nakalapag sa lamesa. Tunay ngang 1st Lieutenant na siya.

"Nakaka-inggit." Claire pouted. "Anyways, congrats, Lieutenant."

"Do you plan on entering the academy right after your high school graduation?" tanong ni Kuya kay Claire.

Umiling ito. "No. Aral muna, ayokong maging bobo sa kampo. Ambisyosa pa naman ako, gusto kong maging Heneral."

No one mocked Claire of her dreams. We just smiled because we knew that she's going to do it. It's in her blood.

"Tarrie..." Kuya Morgan called her sister. "Have you been well here? Bumibisita naman si Daddy sa'yo diba?"

Tumango si Satari. "Nandito si Daddy last week..."

"Last week pa? Nasan ba siya ngayon?" He's talking about their father, Uncle Mateo, the youngest son of Lolo.
