Chapter 32

In those years when I was trying to stand up on my own, a lot of people see it as a form of rebellion—but for me, it wasn't. Siguro sa pananaw ko lang. At some point, my grandfather probably waited for me to come home, maybe he waited for my apology. But I didn't.

The apartment is empty.

"Yes," simpleng sagot niya.

I immediately opened the luggage and returned my clothes to the closet.

"And what? You're gonna push me against my will? I'm not a minor," umiling ako. Yes, I'm threatening him to back off.

Pero hindi siya natinag. "Your grandfather and father had enough of your rebellion."

I smirked. "This is not rebellion, Oliver."

This is not a rebellion. This is merely a refusal.

"You are refusing to accept and obey orders," punto niya. "That is rebellion."

"Fine," I shrugged. "Define it according to your perspective."

He tilted his head and clasped his hands on the back. "What about you? Can you define according to your own perspective?"

I pursed my lips. "Go home. I'll come back once I have something to prove."

"I still need to report though," he shrugged.

"Tell them I'm fine. I'm not stinking like a rat and definitely not homeless."

He took out his phone and type something in there. "Any symptoms of unknown disease and insanity?"

"Seriously?"

I just sighed and did everything I can to push him to return to the Casa.

The moment he left. I vowed to make my words come true. I worked hard in spite of the lack of sleep. Until the day arrived.

I just went straight to Lolo's office like a robot in default. My father also looked at me sharply too. Although, he was holding a glass of champagne.

"You just graduated and you already forgot how to knock?" mahinahong tanong niya.

This is actually our first conversation after I ran away. Sure, my cousins were there too but Dad and Lolo wasn't present.

My guts told me they are here.

"I was just... excited to tell you." Ibinaba ko ang tingin ko sa sahig. My feet ate the distance between us. I slowly removed the graduation hat on my head. "I know I'm not there yet but..."
