Chapter 28

Civil

I packed my clothes, the remaining ten thousand I have left from my monthly allowance. The moment I step out of this Casa, I know that they're going to freeze my bank accounts. So I left my credit cards.

My grandfather might even support this idea of mine.

"Ton, d-don't go..." the sobbing voice of Tarrie halted me. Niyakap niyako habang nag-iimpake ako. "Ton, wag ka aalis please."

I just patted her head.

"Ton..." she begged. "What about your studies? Where are you gonna sleep? You don't know how to cook!"

"I can figure that out, Tarrie," I assured her.

As I rolled my luggage down the floor, nakasunod pa rin siya sa akin. I tried so hard to ignore her. That's hard... Because like Denise, I can't afford to see Tarrie cry too.

"Ton, I will tell Lolo that you're gonna leave!"

I ignored her remarks and proceeded to Oliver who was just standing stiffly next to the door. "I need my car key, Oliver."

"No. Your grandfather told me to restrain you if I have to-"

"Aalis ka, Damian Antonio?" he scoffed. "Aba hindi kita pipigilan. If you're just threatening me, go ahead. I'm not afraid that you'll sleep out in the streets!"

"I'm not scared too, Lo."

"Go ahead then. Let's see how long you would last."

So I did. Buo na ang desisyon ko. Medyo kabado nga lang kung anong gagawin. I only have ten thousand on my wallet. And I don't know how far would that last.

This day, I'm making a family history. I'm the first Hiñago to ever run away from home. Maybe they're right... I'm a force of nature, it's hard to tame me.

At bawal ako kina Rahim dahil Hiñago ako. No Hiñago sets a foot there unless invited by Doña Gracianna herself.

I shrugged and sipped the coffee. I already had plans. The only thing left is how to execute them.

"I'll look for an apartment, a boarding house perhaps. Not necessarily airconditioned."

"Remember?"

Tumango ako. "The next thing I need to do is to know how to cook."

"I'm just not used to it, sa Casa si Daniel lagi ang nagluluto."

I sighed. "I just need to know the basics."
