Steadily opening his eyes, Maxwell saw nothing but the snow falling from the gray and white sky. Each flurry that came down just barely dissolved before reaching the field's warm surface.

His hearing began to fade back in, as the sound of silence was slowly drowned by loud noises from the crowd. In the corner of his left eye appeared to be a gloved hand, reaching out to him.

"Are you alright? I apologize for going overboard. Good match. Let me help you up," said Gideon with a calmed expression. Saying nothing, Maxwell took his hand, as Gideon pulled him up from the pile of dirt chunks.

Now standing, Maxwell gazed and saw the destroyed landscape of the field. His red cape had been shredded and his clothing was covered in dirt. His black hair was all messed up and his back ached terribly. Gideon on the other hand, looked almost the same as before the battle started.

Shaking Maxwell's hand, Gideon gave him a nod of respect, before walking off. Maxwell couldn't even acknowledge it. In that moment, his mind was blank, as all he could do was just stand there in the middle of the ruined field. Feeling nothing.

From the stands, Brian said, "Always nice to see a show of respect. That Gideon guy's a beast. I'm sure every teacher is going to want him." Jessica replied with a saddened expression, "For sure. But dude, do you think Maxwell's gonna be alright with that loss? That hot dude kicked his butt pretty good."

Timothy, with an equally saddened expression, responded, "Of course not, knowing him. But he has an amazing power. I'm sure he'll still be drafted into a good class."

Lucas nodded in agreement with his arms crossed. "For sure," both Jessica and Brian said in sync, believing in Timothy's words.

Feeling empty inside, Maxwell began his slow walk back up through the stands. Each step he took up the stairs felt like an eternity. His confident spirit had been completely crushed by his match with Gideon.

When he got back to his seat, Maxwell felt Brian put his hand on his shoulder. "It'll be okay man. You are the great Maxwell after all."

"He's totally right. Don't sweat it man," Jessica replied, trying to cheer up Maxwell. Timothy smiled at Maxwell and said, "You'll have another chance to prove yourself. Trust me." Hearing his friend's encouragement gave Maxwell a small smile.

While they were trying to make Maxwell feel better, a male teacher walked out onto the destroyed field. He gently placed his hand onto the ground. Suddenly, the field began to repair itself and regenerate. It was the same guy who was repairing the gym after the first round tryouts.

"I'd like everyone to give a huge round of applause to Mr. Jason for taking the time out of his busy schedule to keep our battlefield in prime condition."
