Three hours earlier...
"Lucas hold on! Where are you going? It's so early," Caspian asked frantically as he caught Lucas about to head out the door of the mansion. Lucas turned to Caspian, then he looked down to the ground. After a second, he looked back up at Caspian and put his hand into his vest pocket, pulling out the letter. "I've made my decision. I will... become a hero."
Hearing this momentarily stunned Caspian. He was speechless for a moment, until his face began to express sudden sadness. "Oh... wow. Well, I wish you good luck," said Caspian half heartedly, trying to smile for his friend.
"The worry is unnecessary Caspian. I will return shortly after the tryouts. This is the path I've chosen. What feels right for my inevitable future. Watch after Smokey for me," said Lucas, opening the door.
"Wait Lucas! Hold on, aren't you going to wear anything warmer? It's freezing snow out there," exclaimed Caspian quickly. "Thanks for the concern, but I cannot feel the cold, so it is alright. Farewell for now my friend," Lucas said to Caspian. He then flew off into the snowing, morning sky.
Back to the present....
There stood Lucas. He stood on top of the snow filled gym roof beside a spooked Maxwell. The entire crowd of participants were silent. They all were just staring up at Lucas in awe, as he looked back down at the crowd with a cold, dead glare. However, Lucas's expression lit up as soon as he spotted Timothy and Jessica, happily waving to him from below.
Seeing them made Lucas smile a slight second, before putting his poker face back on. His attention was set on the rest of the crowd of participants. "Hello. My name, is Lucas Avadeer," announced Lucas. His deep voice echoed loud enough that everyone had heard him clearly.
"I've seen all those faces before. I know them all too well. I am indeed the scary being most of you have witnessed on the news in the past. In this unceasing prison I call a life, I've committed horrid acts. Both out of rage and means of survival. I am not a good human being. However, a good friend of mine convinced me to change."
Timothy smiled hearing that, putting his hand on his chest. It made him slightly emotional, but out of pure happiness.
Lucas continued, "I don't want to be that scary being anymore. The one who is looked at as a monster. I was shown the light, so I now step towards it. I respect what you're all aiming to achieve today. I hope you all can respect me as well. However. Know this. Today, you are all obstacles in my path I must overcome. I wish not to embark fear or threaten. This is a mere warning, because I am very certain you all know of my power."
Lucas's eyes then glowed his ghoulish green aura, giving the crowd below a menacing glare. Hearing that, some of the teens were instantly intimidated and nervous. Others felt angry, as they felt as though they were being challenged.
Before anything else could be said however, the doors to the giant gym slowly began opening. As soon as they did, the crowd of participants rushed into the open doors, getting out of the cold weather as fast as they could.
Noticing this, Lucas picked up the frightened Maxwell over his shoulder and levitated down from the roof over to where Timothy, Jessica, and Brian were standing.
Once Lucas's feet touched the ground, he carefully rested Maxwell in a bed of snow, as he was still completely paralyzed from getting spooked by Lucas. Suddenly, Timothy ran up and hugged Lucas..
The hug felt warm, and gentle, yet, Lucas felt tears on the side of his neck where Timothy had snuggled his head. Lucas's face had lit up in shock. Realizing that he was being hugged, Lucas then smiled calmly, hugging Timothy back. "You're... really here," softly cried Timothy as Lucas comforted him.
