Sharidan Tellez-Hodge- English/Irish (mother); Cuban (father); A popular "queen bee" with strong leadership skills, Sharidan is a bossy, arrogant, and superficial girl who does everything in her power to crush and humiliate the other students. She thinks very highly of herself and lowly of others, as she believes that she deserves everything and takes pride in her rich lifestyle. Passionate and prideful, she is the captain of the high school's volleyball team and a head member of her school's debate team. She is known for frequently manipulating people, including her best friend Meygan Davis among others, for her own gain. Sharidan is a clever and resourceful girl who knows how to obtain what she desires and turn circumstances in her favor. At 5 ft. 8 in, she is perceived as being very tall and modelsque and described as being "very pretty", with her classmates appropriately nicknaming her "Legs". She has calculating grayish-blue eyes, light skin and long dark brown hair that is generally styled with a middle part, along with a beauty mark being found on her left cheek. She is often viewed by others as nimble due to her sharp wit and ironic sense of humor, although her jokes can sometimes seem ill-intentioned and insensitive. Sharidan is seen as beguiling and hypocritical by many people and can be a jealous, treacherous person, making her one of the least compassionate girls within her clique. She most infamously spread rumors about Meygan being sexually promiscuous due to her envy over her friend receiving more attention from a shared former love interest. Her peers tend to meet her privileged upbringing with intrigue, as she came from an upper middle-class upbringing in Manhasset, New York as the daughter of a corporate lawyer.
She often regards her less popular female classmates such as Hannah Quigley with a mild sense of superiority and exudes a sophisticated aura with her physical maturity and beauty. Sharidan's father would continuously dote upon and spoil her by catering to her every whim and desire, making her evolve into a ruthless, vain, selfish, and antagonistic person. While she outwardly presented herself as generous and well-meaning, her spoiled and sheltered upbringing often led her to make simple-minded and stereotypical assumptions about the world around her. Her sour attitude comes across openly to whatever and whoever she despises, yet she will sometimes pretend to be innocent and emotionally distressed to manipulate others in front of her father. She keeps a large shoe collection in her closet and also has a bulletin board in which she keeps clippings of her favorite celebrities. Sharidan is shown to be feminine like most of the girls in her friend group, and she is a key member of the Pleases and Sparkles club that she started with them. She still owns a Justin Bieber doll and is shown to enjoy dancing and having a good time, which becomes most evident when she lets loose during the girls' sleepovers. Her favorite color is purple, which she considers "the color of royalty", and she is frequently seen with an orchid beret with a black center. She is good at ice skating as well and once wrote an impressive essay for her class on the suffering of bottlenose dolphins. If there is something that she wants, like attention or revenge, Sharidan will do anything, including underhanded actions, to succeed. She steals Hannah's derby hat design for a contest in order to humiliate her, but impresses Kirsten and later threatens her into punishing Meygan by calling her father.
While being callous and careless to anyone but herself, she can be cowardly and easily scared of danger often caused by events beyond her control. Having helped cause some people to become outcasts within the school, to her horror and confusion, she found herself their victim for revenge. Sharidan believes that she is the most important person in the world and believes everyone adores her, although much of this is done to compensate for the emotional neglect she received from her mother Bertha, a fashion designer by whom she felt unloved due to their distant relationship. Like her mother, she has a fierce temper when angered, although she shows a bit more kindness on rare occasions and can feel remorse for her actions. It is ultimately shown that Sharidan's abrasive and selfish attitude stems from a massive inferiority complex born from the neglect she received from her mother as a child. As seen through their interactions, Bertha cares little for her daughter, even failing to remember her name on many occasions, and only gives attention to things that interest her. Sharidan is very popular on social media and knows quite a bit about the internet and how to manage her accounts, making her have many online followers. She also speaks a few phrases in Spanish with some frequency and has taken French lessons in the past, making her knowledgeable about the language and culture. She is regarded as a poor artist, although she was shown making a still-life painting for class with great precision, and her art teacher tells her that she needs to put her heart into her creations. She owns a pet dog named Bingo as well, and her classmates have joked that she is the type of person who would pay to give her "Shi Tzu a shiatsu". Sharidan similarly shows a lack of self-confidence through her arrogance, feeling as though her actions have little value, no matter what she tries.
This has caused her to try and emulate her mother's unpleasant behavior in a vain attempt to win her affection. She is currently dating her long-term boyfriend Peter Essien, with whom she forms one of the school's long-standing power couples. She is also deeply involved in her studies and adapts her natural smarts into her love of math, which she plans to use to pursue a career in business. Sharidan is very creative, responsible and hard-working, and is good at improvising solutions to the unique problems that can arise in her life. She enjoys spending time on her tablet, playing games, and talking to her friends, but can sometimes get too caught up in it and forget to talk to people in reality. Her love of cooking becomes challenging when she finds out she is lactose intolerant and will have to go dairy-free for some time. She can also get too focused on her plans, such as when she spent her entire summer planning a wedding and forgetting to spend time with her friends. Sharidan has demonstrated that she is very bright and has been shown to have strong debating skills, as well as an aptitude for statistics. Although she has an ongoing rivalry with Maddie Cervantes, a strong-willed, opinionated student whom is one of the few female students besides Kirsten who can equal and stand up to her, the two girls bonded when she tutored Sharidan in English. When she found out that Maddie had a crush on Leo Zambrano, she decided not to tell him due to believing that she didn't deserve attention, showing that although her actions are sometimes good, they're only motivated by her selfishness. She attempted to be a better person afterward by cleaning up her lair on her own for the first time instead of having her butler do it for her. Despite all of these traits, Yasmin can be courageous, as she is willingly helpful when asked by those she is close to or admires, such as helping Meygan confront her abusive ex-boyfriend Erick Montenegro.
She remains awful most of the time, but shows a bit more kindness occasionally, expressing happiness when Kirsten is saving her or towards her parents. She also listens to advice at rare moments, like following her guidance counselor's suggestion that she try to reconcile with Meygan. If requested for a purpose, particularly by Kirsten so that she can still be friends with her, she knows how to act congenial around others, although she often comes off as forced and can't keep it up for long. Sharidan tearfully reveals during a brief conversation with Hannah that she is aware that no one in her class likes her, making her feel useless. She was happy that everyone at school threw her a party in honor of her saving them from a lockdown, but quickly takes it as an opportunity to boast about her wealth and new found popularity among the student body as her title as hero is acknowledged. Like Meygan, she has a bit of a habit of leaping before she looks, meaning she is hasty or quick to act, resulting in her misreading subtle cues. Her fatal flaw is that she is easily influenced by other people's opinion of her, which can lead her to act rashly in her desire for acceptance and belonging. Sharidan takes a lot of pride in her partial Cuban heritage and boasts about her mother making the best Fufu, a traditional dish from her mother's native land that is made of plantains. She grows apart from the other two girls as she becomes older, but humbled down somewhat once she goes on a volunteer trip to Nicaragua and is exposed to the lifestyles of people in Third World Countries. She enrolls at Tufts University after taking a leap year and ultimately pursues a degree in mathematics before she goes on to teach as a college professor. She mellows out when she falls in love with a man named Ibrahim, becoming more self-aware and considerate throughout the course of their relationship. ENTJ 3w4
