Part 1 - Work or Marriage...?
'Sanem opened her eyes to the songs of birds...beautiful chirps in the early morning light of a new day...and just as she does every morning, her heart leaps with song itself to join the birds on their flight...'
Sanem gets out of bed, a wide smile on her face, singing to herself and dreaming of a happy life where everything is bright, hopeful and full of color.
Getting dressed and readying herself, she makes her way out of her small two storey home, kissing her parents on the way out of the door. After many years of marriage, Nihat and Mevkhibe Aydin are still as in love as they were when they first met - it is the kind of long lasting love Sanem sees and wants for herself.
She spends her days working in her family's store - named after her older sister, Leyla. She was the first born and the story behind the store's name is as beautiful as it itself is to Sanem, but she wants more out of life than just working in the store.
As she opens the doors for the day, her happy bubble punctures as she looks around her to see all the usual people of her street, all minding their own business. She looks down at her attire, a pair of jeans and a T shirt - not the beautiful, flowy sundress that turned heads in her dream - and glances once more behind her before she enters and closes the door to go to inside.
The day progresses as it does normally, with deliveries, patrons, old friends and neighbors popping in, and Sanem has a smile for each of them.
During a break in the line of customers to the store, Sanem finds a moment to sit down and take out her diary, where she jots down her thoughts regularly.
'I have only one dream - to become an important, and famous writer, and to settle in the Galapagos islands...And where is THAT you ask? Who knows! I just know that I've heard so many good things about it and it's got me curious...I want to live there for the rest of my life...
You may have thought my dream is small right? No...and there's nothing wrong with dreaming big...it saves you from the bitterness of life...the sad, bitter truth that life - '
A knock on the window right beside Sanem's head, makes her jump and nearly drop her pen, her hand flying to her mouth and her eyes wide, her heart beating a mile a minute.
Standing in the door, smiling at her, one hand on the side of the door, is the one man she hoped would skip his daily annoying visit. "Zeberdjet!" she snaps, shutting her diary and frowning in frustration. "You scared me!" She looks up at him again. She doesn't want him around. He is a relentless fool. "What are you doing here Zeberdjet?"
"Come on Sanem," Muzo complains. Sanem insists on calling him this and he wants her to call him Muzaffer, just once. "Aren't you tired of that joke? My name is Muzaffer." Sanem groans and rolls her eyes as he steps in, smiling again and shaking off the small exchange. "So, what are you doing?" he asks interestedly, glancing at her diary, smile turning to a seductive grin.
"Nothing. I'm working." He lifts a brow. "And writing my novel," she sighs. "I'm taking a break."
"Really? Am I in there?" He wiggles his eyebrows.
Sanem almost gags. "No! Zeberdjet," he narrows his eyes, "I'm writing about my dreams and you aren't in any of them."
"For now," he winks, then leans in, sitting on the counter. "You never know what will happen after all...I could end up a bigger part of your dreams than you think..." His grin widens.
